your filter will catch everything. you should save your money. go do something more productive with your time, changing oil too soon is just being too safe.

I did mine at 1231 miles, but I wanted to do it just in case there was any sort of break in metal or anything in there and put the clean stuff in. I will go with AMSoil on the next change which will be at about 4300.

+1, that's what the filter is for.

Besides, knowing mitsubishi, they'll void your warranty for changing the oil too soon.

I can't say anything bad about their warranty stuff. They did replace the steering wheel in my IX which is an 1,100.00 part... now they didn't do anything about the paint chips like I was hoping... but I sort of expected that.

I'm just repeating a stereotype.

Haven't needed any service yet.. *knock on wood*

I have an extended warranty through a 3rd party and I'm actually wondering if they'll be more willing to do warranty work after the initial warranty's over since it won't be on their dime anymore.

50 is on the high side unless you are using AMSoil or something.

WRONG!!!

the oil the evo comes with from the factory is not a normal mobil 1 10w30

its made for the break-in of the car.

You shouldnt do your very first change for 3k miles, unless you are building the motor.

People think they should change their oil at like 1k and tranny fluids and **** right away, but that is incorrect.

Unless of course, you are eating oil...

change it at like 3000-3500 for the first oil change if everything is going smoothly

Most people would agree that a break-in period is 500-1000 miles... not 3500.

change it when you take it home with AMSOil, then change it ever 10k miles after that. Anything else is just a waste of chemical resources and money.

break-in period is 600 miles actually, according to manual.

that only means, you can start ragging on the car after 600 miles. Has nothing to do with the engines actual break-in period.

It takes much more than 600 miles to fully break the motor in.

The first 600 are just the recommended miles to be "easy" on the car.
