Anyone tried getting a hitch for the Evo?
I'm curious because I'm trying to find one that will clear the dual tip exhaust. I have an aftermarket AMS dual tip I haven't installed yet, but it'll have to be able to clear that.
So what do you guys think?

No one makes one yet so I designed and fabbed one up for myself. I keep meaning to post up pics and the design files in case anyone else wants to make one. I did it so that the receiver is positioned right behind the license plate. Very easy to fab and install and it works great.

This was a couple months ago. April, I think. I even went so far as to order one that one of the main manufacturers indicated would fit the new Ralliart, but of course it didn't fit. I'll try to take some pics and clean up the design files to post some details this weekend.
EDIT: You can see what is available from all of the main manufacturers here: http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-2009_M...shi_Lancer.htm
Note that Draw-tite and Hidden hitch are the same company, and the model that they list as fitting the Ralliart (which would therefore mean that it would fit the Evo as they have the same rear frame rails and exhaust) DOES NOT fit. The curved brackets come down directly in the center of the tailpipes on each side, and the draw bar is in the middle of where the muffler sits.

I finally got around to writing up the details on my custom hitch and posted a bunch of detailed pics: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sa...ormal-use.html

This may not aid the discussion much, but I have seen it. Whether or not it was a custom job, most likely, because this was a year ago. It was a small trailer with just his track gear (wheels/tires, tools, etc...). Good idea

I bought a custom one off of a fellow board member for the VIII. It's just a large metal plate that bolts up to the back of the bumper support with a receiver hitch welded on to the bottom.
Not the lightest but it works. I'm sure any metal welder/cutter can fab one up for you easily.
