Oh yeah, I don't know what is on my Mustang, but my 2005 Ranger has all plastic assembly, as does my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee, as does the Patriot, Outlander, Compass, F150, Caliber, Avenger, Several Nissan and Renault vehicles, Toyota, everybody uses plastic pedal arms.

Here is the last post that was coming through as I closed the thread.
Since he went to the trouble of writing it, I thought I would put it back up there for him.
Please nobody start another thread and let this topic go, unless of course another one of you has a pedal snap.
I gotta continue this broken pedal arm discussion.
One thing I missed which was disturbing was the original DRAG had mentioned about his broken accelerator pedal arm and that was it broke all the way to the fire wall and what if that happened to his pregnant wife.
Well that pedal did not break all the way to the firewall. It broke at a designed in break feature, that when broke, the remaining pedal arm returns to the idle position immediately deccelerating your vehicle. There is no way for the remaining stub to get stuck. And the vehicle computer system is programmed to shut acceleration down when the brake pedal is depressed.
It is very very safe. Safer than you can imagine.
And a vehicle is like a computer. It is only as smart at the user behind the controls. Though with all the sensors and computer programming in a vehicle, they are very intelligent to prevent mishaps.
So if anything were to happen is because you paniced and took your eyes off the road and crashed.

Mitsu rep on here?
EDIT: I will post some info when I learn more. If there is a rep or engineer reading, give me a buzz.

I broke the gas pedal again. I'm over it. I'm having a cnc piece made from aluminum. It broke in the exact same spot and it has nothing to do with pushing it too hard. It has more to do with pushing it to the floor a lot over time, and since I run 2 events per week in my car...I get accelerated wear. It will start to happen to more people over time.
That is crazy and a saftey hazard. I smell a "recall" coming soon about this. Please call Mitsu and your dealer to complain. I really dont want this to happen to me and leave me stranded or possibily in a accident.

I had good luck with contacting corporate using the CS telephone number from their website. They were pretty eager to help with issues the dealer wouldn't even talk to me about. Maybe you'll have more luck there, if you haven't tried that already.
