This has happened many times before. Someone was looking into a CNC'ed pedal arm. I think it was AMS. I would look into it..
It was Bushur that was looking into CNC.

This was an early issue when the 08 STI and X were just coming out, the Subaru guys got a good laugh out of it.

I guess your request to reduce gasoline consumption was answered.

Hope all goes well for you. Luckily nothing serious happened. I was just looking at a Evo X MR yesterday and I cant believe they want $45K for a car and they cant even put in a proper gas pedal that wont break.

This is what maybe the 4th time anyone has ever heard of this happening no need to get worked up. If it wasn't a proper gas pedal we would have threads popping up left and right. I imagine Mitsubishi's supplier manufactured a bad batch that got installed on some 08's.

I'm not getting worked up over it considering I don't own an X. Nice cars but I would never pay 38+K for one or at least that's how much they're going for around my area new. Its kinda ridiculous to be having these problems on a car that costs that much but I understand every car has its issues. Luckily nothing happened to the OP as a result of the gas pedal snapping off. Hopefully Mitsu takes care of it so it wont snap off again.
