I bought a Lancer trunk mat w/ subwoofer and templated & trimmed it against the OEM 'mat'. It fits great and didn't fray.

I can''t post pics because I am in Iraq now.

I removed the spare and tools which dropped the floor about 3-4" lower and gave me more space. The particle board was obviously lacking support in the center so I trimmed some lightweight plastic foam pieces from some computer display packaging under there that did the trick.

I still had the carpet piece floating around so I drilled a couple holes in the particle board and zip tied the carpet to the board in two places. So far it hasn't moved since but I may still place a rubberized mat on top of it and add in a cargo net of some sort. Seems the high G's that this car can manage turns the trunk into a giant mixxing bowl.

I bought the trunk organizer from mitsubishiparts.net and could not be happier. it organizes the trunk into 3 divisions where you can put different kinds of stuff and they wont move under any kind of driving also you dont get to see the carpet a lot. otherwise it is very annoying that there are no places to store things and there are no hooks for bags or a net.

There is a 10 inch sub box in mine, just small and there for good low bass. Everytime I do a run at WOT the matt slides to the back end of the car and everything in my trunk goes flying...

I agree with the originator. The mat back there with the almost cardboard integrity is a little emabarrassing. I agree, this isnt a benz, but there are benz's that will beat our cars and look better doing it. Thats not the point. *

I can see that factory board back there with felt covering not lasting long at all. Anybody dynomat the evo yet or use quieter tires?

To get a trunk mat you should look at a luxury car? That's probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard... Honda Civics have trunk mats that are just not a piece of material thrown into a trunk

i agree the trunk mat is a little bit cheap looking, but its not very often i get some one say OHHH let me see ur trunk mat, therefore to me its not a big deal what the inside of a trunk looks like.

just go to a hobby store and get a velcro pack, they come in big strips and they have glue on one side and velcro on the other, or if you are near a military base look at a "military" store. I am in the army and they sell the stuff there that is actually super strong. then just put a couple pieces on the mat side then pull the tape off the other and just lay it down correctly on the cardboard. QUICK EASY AND CHEAP

Forget the velcro, just go to any hardware store and buy this:

cut to size, place under carpet. Even a 12" subwoofer in a hard corner doesn't slide.
