My Dad is 53 too and he went and test drove an STi, then went and test drove a IX MR and left with the MR that day.

I'm 39 (and closer to 40) and after years of owning BMWs and Mercedes, I consider my Evo X purchase as a signal of the beginnning of my mid-life crisis.

The STi seats are so bad even my gf noticed they sucked immediately. I suspect they are actually two slabs of plywood covered in blue. The VIII-X seats are amazing.

53 yo here.....DD my IX RS. Didn't have many 400+whp 4 bangers back in the day unless they were Offy Indy cars.

I was 40 when I bought my IX. I am not even pretending it's not a a mid-life crisis car .

Well - I've had one teenage girl come up and tell me how this is her favorite car, and some chick driving a mustang blowing me kisses (while I'm thinking - WTF??, surely it's not because of my unusually good looks) - anyway I'm happily married - no pressure. I love the car for what it is .

That surprises me, but then again the X is quite a bit more conservative looking than the VIII/IX. I'm still trying to decide between the X and a IX. I'm 39. My gf thinks the IX is hideous and calls it a Carolla with a Wing. We drove one recently though and in person she liked it. Its a sausage car though, no doubt. Kinda like the Supra I suppose.

Honestly, I don't get the age thing, unless this is about folks who aren't car people to begin with. My automotive tastes at 46 are what they were at 36, 26, and 16 years of age. What changes?

I don't know if this was said before, but there is a REALLY old guy around the Detroit area with an Evo IX SE. On top of this, he drove the car to Buschur Racing for modification work. It's showroom clean, looks stock, and is quick as a whip! You would never guess the man owned this awesome Evo 9.
