hks drop in air filter 3 layer??dusty airway??need opinions
i have been using my hks drop in for about 2months and 1,600miles,the thing is that today i checked it just see how it was doing and when seeing inside the airbox all the way to the maf sensor you see a bit of dust would this be normal using the oem air filter? also i change the airfilters every 10,000miles so i dont know if this filter will be sufficient to filter dust,i gained 10whp using this filter and i like how the car sounds with it but what do you guys think?
thanks

I would ditch that filter - search and see how multiple people had issues with destroying their MAF sensors while using the HKS drop-in. OEM filter works better at filtering, but does not flow as well. There usually should not be visible dust near the MAF. Just stick with OEM and get a tune. Filters don't make much of a difference once tuned.

I switched to the red Ralliart gauze media filter after i lost my MAF using the green HKS one. Other people has lost MAFS with other filters, but the RA one seems a little nicer and should actually filter air. Expensive though...$100.

people here are talking about the "red" Ralliart Drop in filter. Not the stock air filter from a Lancer Ralliart. i dunno if you are confusing the two...
and for anybody who is interested in a RA drop in, go with the cosworth. its of similar construction but costs less. no oil needed. cant go wrong with anything from cosworth...
