I think half of the aftermarket parts that I've purchased said "off road use only" somewhere on the documentation. I didn't install them, of course.

First engine, we are guessing as of right now, failed because of the faulty fuel pump relays, it's about all that makes sense and the engine has clearly detonated, both of the cars here actually. Something else I forgot to cover in the first post, all of my exhaust valves were bent from hitting the pistons. The Cosworth cams we are going to highly recommend either sticking with the STOCK revlimiter OR adding upgraded springs to the head from now on. We had to raise the rev limiter to 8500 to finish the quarter mile and I'd guess the added RPM was too much for the stock spring.

As for the street car.........if you want to get technical about an offroad pipe, replacing the cat with ANY high flow cat or offroad pipe is illegal in all 50 states until the car has over 100,000 miles on it. I don't give two ****s about the cat or whether or not having one makes this a street car or not. The arguement of what is and isn't a street car has been beat to death. It is absolutely a street car, so we are clear.

Block is stock no sleeves. We've got three of these apart and all three have held up good on the stock engines, even though they've been pushed far enough to detonate and damage them. We will start sleeving blocks when we see a need for it, so far so good.

I chose not to o-ring the block or head on the EVOX to see how it will do without it. So far stock gasket, stock head bolts have held over 30 psi on pump gas without any problems.

We don't do things, offering parts or extra work just to add profit to what we do. That's not how this shop is run.

More and more I'm considering just adding in a relay that gets triggered by the stock pump power so that there will always be 14v to the fuel pump. That way if the stock relay fails partially it will still be fine. If the new relay fails the entire fuel pump shuts down with minimal risk to the engine.

It will be incredible to see this Evo X car run 9's in streetable form.

So the fried plugs that you've seen twice, and that several other have seen.... you believe it's not a problem with the plugs themselves, but with the fuel pump and/or fuel pump relay not being able to deliver fuel in the top end, thus causing an unsafe lean condition that would fry most any plugs? There have been lots of reports of fuel starvation during track events that were attributed to sloshing... maybe it's a bit of this as well?

You swapped to a more capable pump and went with a new relay. Is this something you'd suggest anyone wanting to make more power consider? Whats the part # for the relay you're using now?

Do you see any value in this fuel relay test? https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ay-1-test.html

Not to crud up Buschur's thread, but that wouldn't be a good idea at all... you would still have fuel pressure for a split second as the fuel pump cut out, and your fuel injection system wouldn't know the pump was shut off, so the injectors would continue to pulse. This would lead to a VERY lean burn situation and would most definitely lead to some massive detonation.

Now if it cut off the MFI relay as well, you'd be good

I have not changed to the new Mitsu relay yet, we ordered them but they have no come in yet. I'll assume the new part will not cause any problems. The car does have out double pumper in it now.
