Black OEM Relay: Source of Failures?
Dave, it is noteworthy that #4 cyl on UR car had a damaged plug and resulting loss in compression. This is exactly what has happened to others as TTP has diagnosed (see https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...misfiring.html) and it has been suggested also that the relay may be the underlying cause. U have suggested same. Now it appears from UR above posts that this OEM black relay is still in the car. Could U please grab this relay and replace with the headlight green replay and see if lights function. If it fails then it would appear that the cause for these engine failures is, in fact, due to the relay. If not, then the relay is not the culprite. Thanks for UR help on resolving this issue.

Suck that the stock motor had to be pulled, that is extremely disheartening, and even more silly if it was really caused by a faulty relay. Tephra's knockCEL probably would have REALLY helped save this motor
On the up side, awesome-*** build! Can't wait to see the results!

Update.
The engine is fully assembled and back in the car. We are waiting on a few parts still for the trans to come in and then the new Exedy Triple Disc clutch can go in along with the trans. Then with the engine in it's proper location we can start building the turbo kit.
Today I took apart the factory shortblock. It's pretty amazing how good it all looked. All of the main and rod bearings were exceptional, pistons 1, 2 and 3 were also in excellent condition, rings were free and no signs of detonation on the tops or skirt. Each piston did have some damage to the top from lose parts from #4 piston making their way into those cylinders. #4 piston was destroyed on the top, right down to the top ring. #2 ring and the oil ring were also still free and in decent shape. Bearings on #4 were also in excellent shape.
The block is being machined for a new build now and I am anxious to see how the cylinder bores measure before the new work is started.

goofy question but did you guys do a base line before and after you ported the Manifolds and TB? I just trying to figure out if any gains are noticed. 400 is right about where I want to be so Im just curious.

For those interested in updating their relay the updated version is now available in our online store in the Evo X fuel system section.
Take care.

Our bad *** Exedy Triple CM/HD showed up today! The car will now be buttoned up tomorrow and then the turbo kit work will start. Here's a picture of what's needed to hold BIG power!

Another update. The engine/trans/clutch are all back in the car now.
Monday morning, if the laser cut SS header flange is done, we will be starting on the 35r kit for the car. I have it layed out in my head already and should go very smoothly. I'd expect that our turbo kit should be released and ready for sale by the end of the week.
