I wish more people would weight there cars instead of just guessing the weight based on what a magazine says, and how much they "THINK" they have removed with mods.

It would be an eye opener for a lot of people.

Well it has to do with more airbags, naturally bigger car, sound insulation. what the Evo 8 and 9 isnt and doesnt have. Still a good car, just could of used alittle more power to make up for the mass.

Does anyone else read R&T? They cited MR-T's test weight as a hair over 3900lbs (!).

I can't remember where I saw this, but recall reading that the EVO X comes with a pretty big wiring harness (pre-wired for all factory options so installations are plug & play).

I also remember lifting my friends miata wiring harness when he stripped it to build his race car and that thing was HEAVY (a lot more than I expected it to be).

Did anyone try to remove any of the spare unused wiring from the car to see how much weight cut that would be?

You'd be better off taking a power crap before a race than stripping out all the wires, I'd imagine.
