New boost gauge install.....

Finally got round to fitting the boost gauge, went with a Stack pro control unit in the end, had Defi , Blitz , SPA etc in the past, so though i would try one of these, ......

http://www.stackltd.com/instruments_pro_control.html
Nice unit, ticks all the right boxes, colour change option etc, but the main thing i wanted was peak recall in a standalone unit.
I like the Defi racer one, but the lack of peak recall bothered me, and i didnt want to go down the BF route and have to buy/use the con box.
Remote boost sensor supplied, install was simple enough, which makes a change
Door card off, fed wires through the rubber boot in the A pillar that carries the door loom in to the door , then tapped into the electrics around the steering column, (lucky for you guys with left hand drive that your wheel is just above the fuse box)

Didnt want to go the "stuck on" with tape route, nor the usual A pillar mount or hooded binnacle either, vision is bad enough in a X as it is without putting other obstacles in the field of view.
Sat in my seat, had a look round for a suitable position and this seemed the most obvious.
Removed the trim (as i have far to many times recently whilst messing with the mirrors ) make a mock up for cutting are out of a piece of toilet paper roll (technical eh )
Found a piece of tube at a local plumbing centre ( i think the guy there must have though i was a bit strange walking round with a pair of verniers , measuring his fittings )
Found a piece 52mm i.d and got it cut to size and inserted in to my trim piece.
After a bit of angle checking,i got it fitted and filled and smoothed out.
A bit of paint, (which i am going to re-do as i rushed it and am not 100% happy with the finish )
Really happy with the end result, the gauge set for white lighting mode, matches the O.E dial lights nicely, as it also has a white needle too.
Another bonus with it in this position is that it is pretty much always in the shade as well, so no reflections from the sun , Bonus!!
Anyway , some pics......

Toilet roll tube

Mock up for angle etc.

Filled and ready for paint.

Painted..

Fitted...

Light makes the Bezel look silver, it is actually black...

Cheers, Nick

wow the transducer on that boost gauge is the exact same one that comes with the Prosport Gauge. I'm impressed with the quality of it so far.

forgot to mention that I do like it there. you can't please everybody. I've done the steering column mounts, the A-pillar mounts, and now I have a gauge panel in the center. It's my favorite location because it's a cleaner more factory look. it's tough to find a good spot on the X's so I think this is a great compromise.

Its is a quality unit, stack make some awesome bits of kit, predominantly Motorsport based, dash display systems, data loggers etc their speciality.
