Burnt the clutch

hello peeps,

First off I drive a new 2010 WW Evo X, very good car. I wanted to get a base run down at the track (drag) when I broke her in at 1500 miles. First couple times I didnt even launch the car and kept hitting low 15's and mid 14's (keep in mind it's my first standard, so I'm still learning the the quick shifting). I wanted to see 13's so I launched the car a couple of times only to run 14's flat and a smelly (burnt) clutch...go figure. I know, I'm a bad driver. spare me..

Three days later the smell still lingers and becomes more distinct as I use the clutch. Anyone have an idea how long the smell will stick around for? The clutch is not slipping now, but it did slip just once on my last run at the track.

I launched it twice and I feathered the clutch on the second run.
any information would be helpful pertaining to the clutch or driver tips, haha.

Its usual for a stock clutch to slip if you launch it.. the smell is going to linger for awhile.. it will go away.

Any time you're going to be doing that.. especially multiple runs, I'd upgrade the clutch. You're stocker isn't going to last long much longer if it already isn't toasted.

thanks, I'm kinda hoping it's just "the usual" and not a sign of a replacement..sigh.
I don't plan on launching it again til I upgrade it.

I let my brother take my car for a spin...brings it back with that smell. haha. I guess he rides the clutch a bit.

Had him drive me home one night after installing a six-puck. That was priceless! Forces you to become smooth very quickly.

just go to the dealer and say this is been going on for awhile and maybe they will replace it for free! Hurry though you never know and make sure no papers from the track are in the car lol

Dealerships usually never want to replace a clutch under warranty. They call it a 'normal wear and tear item'.

I have seen it been done, they were going to do mine, but if it wasnt from normal wear and tear then I would have to pay them, and I didnt have the $1100 to gamble if it has so few miles they might!
