Bluetooth controller

Just wondering if anyone knew how to pair the iPhone with the bluetooth controller. I bought a used navi with bluetooth controller and found that there is no option on the navi itself to pair my iPhone with the controller.

Anyone have any ideas how to do this pairing without the button switches located on the steering wheel? I know the bluetooth controller works because the guy I had bought it from had his phone paired with the controller, but he said he had used the steering wheel controls to pair them. The iPhone bluetooth when enabled does not even show the bluetooth controller of the navi in it's devices list. Any help would be great. Thanks

I think Bluetooth is it's own separate device apart from the navi unit.

Well I know you can answer the phone from the navigation unit itself as well as dial from the navigation screen (The option is mobile device which is currently disabled on my navigation since I do not have a phone paired with the bluetooth controller). I was hoping that it would also allow you to setup the pairing and not require the steering wheel controls.

I don't think so, from what I've read it uses voice prompts.

Damn, I was hoping this wouldn't be necessary.

So have people installed this into their GSR. I just installed the bluetooth controller and steering wheel controls but there is no response. If i take it to the dealership and they use the Mut III scantool will it then work? Anyone have experience where they installed the device and it did not work until it was taken to the dealership and the scantool was used or did it work right after installing into the car. Thanks.
