Why is the 2010 faster than the 08?

I keep seeing posts about how the 2010(gsr) is so much faster out of the box than the 08. Is that true and does anyone know why or how much faster? And if a simple tune will even it out?

thats what i was thinking. so since both cars should get tuned anyway, it doesnt matter which one is faster out of the box because they will end up even anyway.

it has a 4.6 straight v 6 trubo engine.

car makers continually tweak their cars in successive model years. like the above posters its the tune. its cheap and easy to mess with.

The difference is not monumental. For most of us, since we'll get tuned at one point or another, it doesn't matter if you have a 2008 or a 2010 evo.

Yes it is the tune. If you search, most people had problems with their factory tunes so most cars had to go back and get the ecu reflashed. Mitsu, just gave the car a better tune.

this thread brings the lulz......its the same after 08s get the factory reflashes, which is free anyways. so i assume the colour lcd act as nawzzzzz if you insist the 2010s are faster..

The 2010 Evo has Lean Spool. Otherwise the tune is an almost exact copy of the 2008.

A tuned 2010 = a tuned 2008. There is no differences in hardware.
(Other than our awesome, kickass, color display)

If we have a 2008 model... do we have to go back to the dealer to request a tune to bring it up to spec with the 2010 model?
