who says Evo X gets poor gas mileage?

well i did when i first got the car. but recently, 5000 miles later, my gas mileage has improved to the point i'm getting 20mpg on a tank of gas (not according to computer, but from my own calculation) consistently. i work the swing shift, so there's no traffic at all, so i usually drive it very spiritedly. when i first got the car, i was only getting barely 200 miles per tank before the warning light, now 240 miles. i think it got better right after i did the first oil change at the dealer.

I have been on road trips in mine where I have seen 26-29 mpg on the interstate. But now that I have 1000cc inj I get a little less. usually around 24 but when I get on it it drops to about 8-12

25mpg+ is possible if you really granny the car...I think I've hit 24mpg once with 90% driving on the fwy at 60-65mph...and 10% city

ever since I added more parts to the car...and wide wheels....I barely get 20mpg....its mostly 18mpg or less....then again, I am on it alot more just so I can have fun with my new toys

I've gotten 30mpg while cruising... but with by normal "spirited daily driving" routine... I seem to be getting around 20mpg as well. I also notice my fuel economy changed after owning the car for a bit. Then again... that might be me subconciosly changing how I drive after feeling the pain of constantly going to the gas station. lol

LOL I calculated 13.6 mpg yesterday... though it is on E85. With 93 I got around 24mpg on the way from Florida up to Virginia

I am conservatively tuned with basic boltons and am yet to see anything upwards of 27. Even that I only saw once, probably because I was driving from a higher elevation to a lower one all along the trip. How the hell do you guys manage to get 29 and 30?

24 is the norm for conservative driving for me and 18 for local.

30mpg is not normal at all... I was driving from one city to the other on a smaller highway that was one lane in each direction... with an 80km/h (50mph) speed limit. So I must have been crusing at about 60mph for good distances.

If I'm on the main highway here... and crusing at about 90mph... even if I am not stopping and going... I will not achieve 30mpg. I think I reached 30mpg in that case because at the speed I was cruising at... I didnt' really go above 3,000rpm.

I'll be driving cross-country tonight so I'll be sure and track my mileage. I have noticed so far though that my modded IX got far better mileage than my stockish X.

They may be reading it off the display which can be wrong. I am on an FPred with 1000cc injectors, my turbo dosent spool when Im on the highway, and I got 25mpg on the highway with it on cruise control at 70 for 3 hours.

I use a pretty cool MPG calculation app on my phone...

Maximum MPG: 23.7
Minimum MPG: 16.58
Average MPG: 18.47

And I'm constantly getting crap from my wife for driving too conservatively. I've been above 19.1MPG exactly once in the past 12 months. You can see it dip right after I got tuned. That extra HP slaughtered my gas mileage, it seems.

Oh something else to remember is if somebody has a GSR or MR. The MR will rev lower because of having the extra gear.

Oh, also wanted to mention, my MPG display always ends up saying I'm getting better than 20MPG. At least for me, it's completely unreliable.
