Product request/Ipod Accessory
I have a request for an accessory that I think would sell like hotcakes if produced.
I'm going to try and explain my idea in a way where everyone can be on the same page as me.
Now we all know how annoying it is to plug in your ipod to the hidden aux ports, especially when it is dark out. And if your ipod/iphone is layin flat, it sometimes goes into landscape mode which ends up putting you in Album Cover view. Also, i'm sure nobody likes to have cables all tangled up which get in the way when you are trying to use it.
Now here's what i'm thinking...
Why not design some sort of ipod dock that replaces your ash tray?
A dock that would stand your ipod upright and have some sort of aux out to hardwire into your radio(if that's possible), OR have a small cable that runs out from behind the dock to the aux ports.
I know they have similar products out for cupholders and such...
...but what I'm thinking of wouldn't have any buttons(so it wouldn't be bulky) and would just be a simple dock with aux ports.
Anyone here get what I'm saying?
I don't think it would be something difficult to produce(for a vendor obviously) and I think it would work. I put my 3GS iPhone up to my ash tray and it looks like the dimensions of it wouldn't be a problem at all.
It would look something like this...

I'd like to also mention that I just talked to a gentleman at http://specdock.com/ which makes the docks you see in the last couple pics I posted. They don't make a dock for the Lancer yet, but he asked me to send him a photo of the console so that he can take a look at it because he has been wanting to make one.
Let's keep our fingers crossed on this!

All pointless if you are still connecting through RCA jacks. 2011's will have Fuse which takes care of everything or you can just go with an aftermarket deck with full ipod control.

Maybe not a bad idea, if it's cheap enough or you just wanna show off your Apple gear.. but you'll still have to use your DAP/iPod to control playback, and the OEM RCA inputs will still sound like crap.
FUSE or aftermarket would definitely be a much better solution. Digital audio transfer instead of analog, and just toss the player in your glove box and control everything via the receiver.. no signal interference, no messy wires showing.
