Rattle in front pillar on passenger side

Just an FYI... Sounds like other SEs are having the same problem..

I just purchased an SE and have a stupid noise coming from the passenger front pillar. It was driving me crazy.....

I finally found that stupid noise (actually my dad did)..... The window is off center and it seems to be rubbing on the pillar somewhere on the outside of the car.... Squirted a little lube between the pillar and the window and ….... gone... No more noise. Looks like the window is off a ¼ inch or so…

Spray a bit of WD40 between the a pillar and the front window and where it meets the black strip on the roof (see pic). IF it is the same thing I have you will notice a big difference in clearance between the front windshield and the pillar and if you compare the gap of the windshield and the black strip in the roof between the drivers side and the passengers you will notice a big difference.
The Wd 40 is will only last for a few days.

I just need to get it in to the dealer to get fixed.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone else had this problem fixed by the dealer? If so, what did they have to do? I took mine in a week after buying it, drove it with them and they heard the constant sound and weren't sure how to fix it, but said they would try. They did other work on it, and said it just went away at the end of the day. To their credit, there was no sound on the way home. But ever since the next morning (and 3 weeks now) its been rattling like crazy and I have just been lazy bringing it back.

Fix

I think the only way to fix it is to reposition the windshield.

I'm not certain if my rattle is from the same problem, but the rattles that I'm hearing are definitely coming from the same area.

I initially thought the passenger sun visor was loose and rattling against the roof. I held the sun visor tightly against the roof while driving and it still rattled. I will have to try to get some WD-40 in that seam.

FYI, I too have a SE.
