Hey guys everytime I get in my car, I always wait for the car to warm up at least one little bar or wen the rpms drop lower than 1k. Is this nesseccary? Cuz I've seen others just hop in their car and go. Just wondering if any of you do the same

 

Keep doing what your doing, especially when its cold outside. Its a great idea to have the oil warmed up and lubricating everything before driving. Its worth the extra few minutes to wait. I feel so bad for people engines when they just hop in on a cold day and take off in them.

Even on a warm day you should wait at least a minute before taking off. I read that everything (in the engine) should be lubricated by then. Dont want any metal on metal friction while driving!

 

supposedly you should be able to just start it right up and take off as long asu keep the rpms low, but me personally, i wait for that one bar as well, just cant justify taking off after a cold start overnight

 

I get in the car and drive right away... but I won't drive the car hard until it gets warmed up. You can tell when you start the car on a cold day it feels "stiff"... so I don't think it'll be too good to start pushing the car right away.

 

On a cold day, I start it up and wait about 2-3 min and wait for the rpm drop. When I drive it, I keep it around 2 - 2.5k rpm and would only go harder once the oil temp. is at the correct point.

 

No reason to sit and wait, you aren't doing your car or wallet any favors. Just drive easy and stay out of boost until you reach full operating temp. This will also give your drivetrain a chance to warm up properly.

 

I just take off and keep it under 2500rpms until it warms up. Never had a problem, and I've been through sub-zero Michigan winters with many cars.

 

car warms up for about ten mins. then i drive it slow after that to warm up the diffs an trans. an i like getting in a warm car

I use the "one-bar rule", unless you're in a crazy hurry, late for work etc, then just don't get on it past 2500-3000 and you'll be fine!

1 bar rule here as well. Want to be safe/habit from my DSM days...kinda want to install a remote start hmm.

 

i read somewhere that waiting till the car warms up is actually not good sometimes coz you drive with a warm engine and a cold transmission...you're supposed to drive it and take it easy until you hit the operating temps so everything's warmed up. not sure how accurate that is though.

i do warm my car up a lil bit everytime before driving it.

I always let my car warm up and take it easy after I drive off...I never had a problems by doing this but you do what ever you think is right.

 

this is a question for your owners manual.. it says to never move the car untill you have atleast one blue bar cold or hot outside. will insure longevity of your motor.
