Track Day Fun with a Lamborghini Superleggera....

Hey Thanks for the comments guys; still working all the time on smoothness....takes a lot of concentration.... it's so easy to get sloppy with the Evo though; it will forgive you
So I'm running with The Driver's Edge (http://www.thedriversedge.net/index.html) Really well run, professional and very safety conscious. The instructors are great and just a fun group of people who all love cars and going fast around a track . Highly recommend them for anyone in Texas. How do you like PCA?
Good eye; I am wearing shorts, Summer exception for the heat down here in Texas and yeah they allow the convertibles as long as the car has roll protection that is at least an 1" above the driver's helmet....but i take your point....i don't think i'd be too happy in a convertible on a track period....Indeed I've heard PCA are quite strict.
Cheers Guys

Update
Hey Everyone,
Thanks for all the encouraging comments and hope folks have had a change to get out on track and give it a go. Latest update from my end, please to say i finally Solo qualified with Driver's Edge running with the yellow run group now. No more joking around and keeping up with Lambos anymore, the driver's now are pretty dialed in....here's my humbling first yellow solo; very happy to have caught a GT3.

Hey Thanks!
Actually i've done a bunch of mods since my initial attempts in the Green run groups. Mostly practical stuff, the car has enough power for my ability level at the moment;
First Harnesses to keep from moving around so much, this made a huge difference in that you don't fight to keep in place and you really get smoother as a result; I went with the DOT Approved Rallye 4 ASM, and ofcourse the stock belts are still in the car.

Next I wasn't hitting shiftpoints that well because i couldn't hear/feel the car so well, so i got a progressive shift light indicator from traqmate;

....and for better sound/vibration the magnaflow catback;

At 6000k I replaced my OEM tires with the Advan Neova AD08; which i've done about 4 weekend on so far and am very happy with;

Finally I had towhooks fitted on the front and rear....there are no virgins out there i'm afraid ;

That's it for the moment. I can't stress enough what a huge improvement the harnesses and shift light indicator have been.

Thanks!
Yes; fully agree with you; for the money this car is downright incredible. Not only in terms of performance, but also quality of the driving experience. The EVO has totally brought me back to being in amazement of what the Japanese achieve with automobiles and eager to discover more....
Every weekend I have folks asking me what mods/upgrades i have done to the engine and suspension. They are typically shocked when i tell them I've only changed out the cat-back!!!

The Fun Continues....
Hey Guys,
Well the fun has continued on Track. I've bumped up a couple run groups since that Lambo vid 10 months ago and still having a blast. Still highly recommend it to any car enthusiast but just a health warning....it's highly addictive and your maintenance costs will increase...substantially
Back in May i ran a weekend at MSR Cresson near Dallas (1.7m CW). One particular run stood out as a Cayman S came up behind me and motivated me to hang with him. I was particularly happy with my Evo's performance; the cayman had some track prep work done to it and running on R-compounds. I was on my new Advan Neova AD08's street tires (my second set...)
Hope you enjoy the vid; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAdm9b4Ffak

It's proof positive that the car is only a third of the equation; the driver and the road are equally important. The Lamborghini has twice the horsepower at least, but the Evolution stays with it because there isn't enough straight road to pull away and because the driver's not good enough to make use of what he's got.
