There was a guy that was making a simple power inverter to solve that quirk a while back. Unfortunately, that was the last I heard of it. I remember him saying that AEM had given him instructions on how to make it. If it bothers you enough you could give them a call and see if they can help you out.

Here is how I got around that...

But yeah, the Defi gauges do look better than the AEM IMO.

LOL I suppose the absense of a Defi makes them look better. Do you have backlight hotspots too? Mounting the Perrin off center, now THAT is function over form!

Yeah but I like to wire my gauges once, not once per season

Yeah, around 10psi on the boost gauge.

Thanks. I'm happy with it, it looks good and only covers 0-15mph on the speedo and none of the tach. I do like where you have yours mounted though, if I ever do things over I might try mounting mine like that.

The binder clip idea I stole from someone else on the board, forget who. I almost got the Perrin, and likely would have offset them as you did. Really the X has few actual good options.

We use 3M molding tape - professional strength (we get it in 25 yard rolls)
Few body shops use this to attach fender flares / body molding / emblems etc...
I have my defi gauges for almost 2 years in the exact same spot - never moves. even when the temps get to -25 degrees.
good cleaning of the surface helps - especially if you use armor all or something similar.

Stuff works so well that we received calls from customers to see if we "super-glued" certain parts onto their cars. A little bit of heat takes it right off.

I never had problems with the "3m dual lock" tape. It's a much strong alternative to velcro, and seemed to work well for me...

Thanks for the review! I see this stuff at the autoparts store every time I'm there and have always been hesitant to pick some fearing it wasn't that great. I have a few things I need to tape down that my loctite tape dropped as soon as the weather got cold.

Both of these gauge set ups look great! I am in the market for gauges, you definitely prefer the Defi over the AEM? How long did it take to install the gauges?

Looks great guys!

just like a few others have mentioned 3m molding tape works wonders...as long as you clean or prep the surface. I use 90% rubbing alcohol and a paper towel.

I've had bad luck with tape in the heat. It will get all gooy and then stop sticking. I will have to try the 3M and see if it's any better.

The Defi gauges look better than the AEM gauges, but both do the same thing. Defi doesn't make widebands so I went with AEM for both gauges because I prefer the uniform look.

And install will take up some time, especially if you're **** about routing everything nicely and soldiering everything together.
