This would be a sweet car to modify...if planning to go the APR route with this...the only thing that I would see if a switch was made to go towards Audi is the cost per HP and TQ would be two to three times greater at least in comparison to the Evo...

Modified Audi = lots of money for very little bang. Buy a beater trust me I spent 400 on a 94 civic 200k on odo I put another 150 on it. 1500 on a legacy wagon 225 odo I put another 100k before she went belly up. Your rehab is very short in duration Doctors always project the worst case time frame and prognosis. Truth is the rehab may be much faster than expected.

I know i'm late to this thread, but I have a different angle to help you.
First off, the power output of the MR is just fine. Both drivetrains need upgrades when doing bigger power, and it's very similar when you add up the costs. The only valid concerns for an MR imo are: A) you absolutely have to be a mechanical gear / clutch junkie and can't adapt to using your left foot for braking. B) you're scared about replacing an expensive transmission (which is getting cheaper). I was a die hard gear head, and love that I moved to the MR. I drive it in manual mode and use my left foot for braking. My lap times have drastically improved, and have no complaints.
Now, what's important is you bought this car, and haven't had it much longer. The first 3 years you depreciate the most. IMO, you need to find a way to keep this car. 6 months is not that long of a time. I actually garage my Evos during the winter here until all the pebbles / gravel are off of the road from winter. This ends up being about 5-6 months. I say keep the car, and buy some auto beater in the mean time for times when you absolutely have to get out of the house. You won't lose much money, and you'll be happy / excited when you finally get to get in the seat of your GSR again.

the Audi's and M3's are quite nice cars... obviously. I have just done a lot of work to the GSR and yes I would really like to keep it. I'm just afraid i'm going to get in a situation with shifting. Honestly, yes I wouldn't mind trying the MR... but the max power for the tranny is what? Not a whole lot. I'm at 382/352 now. I know for 2010 the MR's ran a 13.2 which is a good time from what they were running. I'd likely run a cat back, intake, tune it and leave it alone... that would be good enough for a high 12's run wouldn't it? Seems like it would be anyway.

There are quite a few MRs pushing 400+ whp on FACTORY transmissions. It's all in the tuning. Not to mention there are a slew of upgrades of the transmission to exceed 600whp. Currently the fastest MR is doing 11s consistently and over 550whp.
I don't drag, so I can't tell you what my time is, but I'm 330whp / 324 wtq (conservative track tune) with FMIC, Intake, UICP, LICP, downpipe back. I have had 0 issues with my MR at the track or DD.

yeah, i'm just trying to figure out money wise what would be the best and I know selling it right now would ultimately just wind up being a waste... I could get a few nice new cars for what I could get for the car, but nothing with the performance of the X.
