Horrible gas mileage???
Sorry for posting in show and shine I meant to post in here.
Hey I have a 2008 PB Evo X MR. I only have about 4100 miles on it, I don't drive it much and I've had it for about 1 and a half years.
Soon after I had bought it I received a recall notice for the fuel line replacement. Before I performed the recall I noticed that my car would usually max out to 260-280 miles in one tank. I knew the car wasn't going to have great gas mileage, but I was fine with it at those numbers.
So after I had performed the recall I had noticed that my max miles in one tank slowly dropped over time. It was slowly going down by 20 miles each time I filled up the tank. Eventually it has gotten to the point where it says that I only have 160-190 miles max in one tank. I even noticed the difference when I drove the car to work every now and then. My commute is 40 miles one way mostly on the highway. I usually have to fill up the next day so in two days my tank is empty. I have a half tank in one day. I think this is pretty ridiculous, I understand this is a performance car, but is this really how the car is or does mine have a problem or something.
I think if its a problem it has to do with the fuel line recall because after I had replaced it I started to notice a significant drop in my gas mileage. All of my observations were done according to the digital gas mile indicator under the trip menu and the center display in my tach/speedo.
I also do understand that the car has a 14.6 gallon tank and the EPA standards are 17/22, but I did the calculations and the car should need to be filled up at least at 247 miles. When I first bought the car I was getting 265 to 274 miles out of the car and I was happy with that, but now I think its becoming a problem since I am only topping out at 185 in one tank.
I've also heard there has been another some sort of recall or something, but it was about a reflash for the sst or ecu or something I'm not exactly sure but would this reflash have anything to do with it. Could it be the reflash that will give my mileage back? I remember reading I think on another forum that someone factory reflashed their car and they got more gas mileage out of their car because they said that their car was "running to rich"...I'm not sure what this means, but could this be my problem?
I am very concerned and I would greatly appreciate feedback, sorry that was a little long, but I wanted to make it as clear as possible.
Thanks

I get 16-18mpg city and 17-20mpg highway. I fill-up when the light starts flashing so that usually equates to about 11 gallons or so and around 180 miles city. Are you running the tank down to 12-14 gallons trying to get over 200mpg?

I've been trying to solve this mystery for quite some time. I've asked many people and it varies quite a bit. Some people's gas light doesn't turn on until 320-360km and others like myself turn on at 260-280km's even if I drive it very lightly. My milage works out to be around 16L/100km's which is 1L different from the factory specs. If you follow the factory specs, you should only be getting 160-180miles a tank in the city before your gas light turns on.
At least gas is cheap in the states!

Yeah before the recall I did a total of 260ish miles in one tank 12-14 gallons so I know its possible, but as soon as I got the recall I can barely get 190.

Nah I'm sure it won't make a difference between transmissions because some other GSR owners have the problem...I'm almost convinced that its the Factory reflash for 2010 and later year models because I have a 2008 model and most people who have a similar problem also have 2008s so Im going to probably call to make an appointment tommorow for the factory reflash. thanks for the help

Ha ha, my normal fill up with mixed city is usually about 180miles at around 11 gallons for fill up give or take. Only when I'm doing straight highway do I see around 20mpg. I have intake, full exhaust and a tune and cruise at 80 on the highway.

Yeah I typically see about 200-210 is mixed driving on 12gals....the VERY best I've had was 225ish not shifting above 3k and only going 65mph...yeah that tank of gas sucked b/c it was boooooring! I chalk it up to you don't buy and SUV or a sports car for gas mileage...

I average 21.5 mpg highway at 231.2 miles or 20.1 mpg at 232.3 miles before fill up. I can probably reach 245-250 before it gets empty but I always fill up before it reaches that. The digital display isn't that accurate I think compared to the needle display in previous Evos or Lancers.
Calculate your mpg at fuelly.com that's what I do.

its because of the freezing weather.............gas mileage drops dramatically when its sooooo cold out. On my IX i got about 270-280 (highway) in the summer and about 220-230 (highway) in the winter.
p.s. i always fill up almost exactly 10 gallons each time and no boosting.
