No it happened at stony brook university and yes I know having a nice car increases your chance of being targeted for vandalism but I'd rather drive what I love an worry about where I park it the. Drive a pos and hate it

What jerks! ...not only do they rip you off, they screw up everything else failing at stealing other parts in the process.
Hopefully they get caught, but my experience has been poor with this . Also, your friend might get a very nice check from insurance since those wheels are ~$1k/ea from the dealer... so a $5k check might sounds nice... but if the rest of my experience says anything that $5k will cost him $10k over the next 3 years in insurance.
I hate thieves.

believe me, no oem or aftermarket lug nuts are gonna stop someone if they have the right tools. as a mechanic i needed those sockets because people would lose their key for the lock nuts. its unfortunate, but thats the way it is.

Yea unfortunatly its very easy to get the tools to take off wheel locks. Hope they find the guy. I had a buddy where they stripped his orange car and then procceded to put the parts on a green car. My buddy saw him at a car show less then 2 weeks later got a few cars to block him in and called the cops. Guy claimed he bought the parts from craigslist though.
