Question Exhaust without a Tune

Wondering if it's safe to run a turboback exhaust without cobb accessport or a custome tune. For those wondering I'm 100% sure I'm getting the perrin turboback, which comes with a high flow cat built in. Is it bad that I get the turboback and don't tune the car right away? Is there anything bad at all that could happen?

you could drive around for a while without a tune if you're waiting on more mods. i just wouldn't be doing any 1/4 pass type driving. you may end up overboosting and/or getting 02 sensor codes after some hard driving.

but what the F do i know? i'm just some dude on the internet.

The tuners would have you believe you need a tune for the exhaust, of course. It i$ in their be$t intere$t. Try to be independent and think for yourself, don't be a brown-nosing sheep.

that's deep.

back on topic. there are lots of post saying tuners want your money and you don't need a tune or "i've driven untuned for x amount of time." that's all fine and dandy but if you're going to spend the money to make your motor breathe freely why not pay to get it dialed in properly too. sure, you won't blow your motor but what's the point in not utilizing the potential benefits. if the benefit is for a different sound then just run a catback exhaust and save your money on other things.

U will get better flow and the spool up will be faster with the CAT back and high flow CAT. I got the CBE and ran it with no problems. But U will not get full benefit out of this mod unless U get the tune as the last post indicated. If U R going to get more bolt ons, I would wait until U complete them before the tune...by so doing, U will need to pay for one tune as opposed to many, cost ~$800. That said, U cannot put too much on...for example, a CAI is probably also ok but put a larger intercooler on as well, then U should NOT run WOT until a tune. Obviously, if one of the mods is an upgrade to UR turbo/new turbo, then U will definitely need a tune before running WOT.

Later, Ken

You'll be fine, don't go crazy in the cold weather. I made that mistake to push her a little too far, and threw an overboost code. You also might notice some slight hesitation during WOT, just an fyi. And I've had mine on for months now too, but def try to get it tuned asap obviously.
