Radar detector placement

I have an Escort 8500 and I mounted it similar to the Op's original description -- upper left hand corner of the windshield with the wiring going up the A-pillar. When you remove the cover you can see the airbag bunched up in there, and I'm confident enough that the wire is out of its way & not going to obstruct it in any way.
Also, are laser jammers really worth it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that most cops use lasers. I asked a cop friend and he said that <10% of police forces use lasers for speed detection. Since getting my 8500 about a year ago, I've only registered 1 laser hit (coming over a crest in the highway... luckily i wasn't speeding at the time or I would have gotten pulled over. the detector just told me I was already tagged) but countless Ka radar bands.
I'm just not sure there's enough cops with lasers out there to justify it.

And I got blasted last year on Rt. 80 doing an even buck. My Passport 8500 picked up the laser, but unfortunately that's not much help if I'm the one he's blasting.
As for the placement, I don't get cute with placement for looks. I'm smack dap in the middle of my windshield so the rear sensor has a clear view between the middle back seat headrest and the raised spoiler. It's not very pretty, but neither is a big fat speeding ticket so I do everything I can to optimize the effectiveness of the radar detector.

I just got my Blendmount.. It fits great, just have to remember to flip the dimmer switch back. i have it currently mated to the map lights by an Invisicord. I purchased a remote mute button for my escort, and will be doing an install of it in the vacant dash switch by the asc button. Will get pics up after all done.

It also helps to continually vote down every chance at increasing the local police budget when it's on the ballot.
Hardly see 'em now that they are short staffed and only busy with real crime. Our 70mph zones with 4 lanes have an average speed of 85mph outside of rush hour in the fast lane. It's much better than Illinois ever was with their 65mph zones with cops every 10 miles.
I haven't seen a stationary cop on my 30 mile drive to work in almost 2 and a half years now. Only see them in transit.

mr06,
think you could take a pic of the front side of the rear view mirror? Im interested in how you ran the hardwire because I'm liking your setup
