Horrible story, but it just shows how dangerous test drives in a car like this is. The salesman who sold me my X said he took a test drive with a customer that tried to power slide a turn, and the salesman had to ask him to get out of the car.

This is an extremely dangerous type of car to give ANYONE who doesn't drive it every day, and wants to "show people how it's done" for cocky salesmen OR customers.

One place i talked to said they did not even allow test drives with evos for this reason. They said if you were buying the car, you knew what it's capable of, and you know what to expect, and you would be able to drive it once you payed, and at first i thought this was dumb as hell, but I completely understand with stories like these.

Uh, yeah. The dealership will certainly be sued- though they have insurance for just this kind of event. I would be surprised if the family's lawyer doesn't go after the salesman personally in a separate civil action.

What an awful situation....tragic

What I don't understand is why the kid and his Dad didn't tell the d-bag salesman to slow the hell down!

Think about it; if you were in a car with some sh*t-for-brains person who you do not even know and they started driving like a complete idiot, putting your life at risk, what would you do!

Believe me, I'm not insinuating that the passengers were to blame in any way, shape, or form but I can't understand why common sense would fly out the window because you are on a test drive

I think this might be a ralliart instead of an evo, but who knows?

I feel sorry for the family.

Like you, in no way am I saying it is their fault but maybe they encouraged the guy to do it or thought that it was cool of him to do.

Wow.. this is sad .... The salesman who took me for a test drive in an X was taking looping off-ramps quite fast too.. but the next week when I returned to the dealership. He wasn't there anymore They said he was out of town even though he made an appointment with me a few days earlier

Based on the picture in this article, it seems that it was regular lancer.

Well... here they say it was an Evo http://www.automotiveaddicts.com/177...ills-passenger. Makes more sense than a Lancer. An awful tragedy either way.
