Evo Not Dead!!!!
This is a direct quote from an article whose link can be found below.
"Mitsubishi now must find a way to balance the ferocious performance and cult-status image of the Evolution with the new eco-friendly image it’s developing around the world. The Evo X will still be available, but the next generation will “evolve” into a different direction—something that may surprise the Evo’s thousands of fans.
In a press release, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Global Chief Executive, Osamu Masuko indicates that perhaps the Evo never was axed and that the automaker has plans for the next generation of the vehicle. Masuko comments that in response to new market demands the automaker, “is considering not advancing the Lancer Evolution concept in the same way as before, but to find a different direction for the Lancer Evolution model to evolve.”
With previous rumors that the car could include hybrid or electric technology, this seems all the more likely by additional remarks that the car’s future direction and the “technologies involved” in it, will be revealed at a later date.
So rest assured Evo faithful, the STi-killer isn’t dead, but it may never be the same."

As sad as it is to see the Evo go, maybe killing it off with the X would be better than ruining the reputation of the Evo with a half assed hybrid XI.
Just a thought.

This was such an obvious play. They always pull this crap and then the new one comes out. A hybrid evo is just a matter of time. No sense to fight it. If you ever thought Mitsu would just keep producing the 20+ year old iron 4G63 into the future, you we're likely smoking dust.

When all of the threads about the evo dying came out a month or so ago, they were all in general. I don't see why this thread would need to be moved....

This was also the first posting I noticed in the General Discussion on this matter. Normally I myself don't check the Future Evo section all that often. So when I saw this I felt like a little kid who got an A on his spelling test and wanted to let every one know.
I know the Evo will not be the same but we can't dismiss knew technology who knows what the future holds. Someday we might have a hybrid road warrior that get's 60mpgs doing 400whp. I know we all would be down for something like that especially with how much we are paying for premium now, plus the added fact that we would be decreasing our dependence on foreign oils and helping the environment.
It's nice to dream and think positively about these things.
