Test Pipe Install Issue - stock bolt sizes at downpipe?

What a PITA getting the front bolts off. The heat shields arent making it any easier either, I can't get a decent vice grip on them. With the car on jack stands I don't have much room for a breaker bar. The sensor came right off, but these other bolts are rusted and PB Blaster isn't helping.

Are the stock bolts at the downpipe 19mm? I need a pretty sturdy socket so I can use my foot but I need to use the right size. I tried a 3/4 but it threatened to round off.

They are 19mm. I had the same issue, try an open end wrench or power tools would be the way to go.

I had the same problem on my Sky when I replaced the downpipe (and the car only had 1800 miles on it at the time). It's a very hot area, the bolts are well fastened

I used PB Blaster and tapped with a hammer for a bit on the bolt head to loosen up the rust. They popped off relatively easy after that.

With the car on jack stands there isn't enough room for a breaker bar - hence the foot "technique". This is such a dumb thing to spend money on but I probably don't have a choice here.

I don't see how air tools would help? What tool can get to those bolts with the down pipe heat shielding in the way? Speaking of air tools I do have a die cutter. I'm not sure I can get it in there with it...

i think the "air tools" people are referring to would be specifically , an impact gun.

an impact can make all of the difference when removing seized nut/bolts.

i have an electric impact gun which really helps sometimes

without having to bring out the compressor and hoses.

I just can't see how you could get an impact gun up there. Screw it I scheduled an appt for Friday at an exhaust shop. $75 for nothing but it will be done.

I'm a bit scared of what my ETS V2 is going to sound like with this thing on...

Use an oil penetrator (breaks rust and foams to seep in to the bolt), not wd-40 , i jus did down pipe today, i used a socket wrench and got a rubber mallet and went to town on cat to the downpipe. and for the Down pipe to the turbo housing i used a 10in + 6in extender with swivel elbows to get to the bolt and then i was a lot of screaming and kicking but eventually they broke loose, then i broke a bolt in the housing so it had to pul that off too...(off topic)

OK here we are.

The V2

Torching the stock 19mm bolts. Acetylene is your friend!

Installed. I still need to pull the excess wire back into the car.

So in the end the car is now loud as f*ck. I feather the throttle in my neigborhood but I'm sure I'm still pissing folks off. That being said I could care less.

No cell
