I can tell you from looking in the ECU that, at least in the 2008 USDM, no ASC action is required. When you pass under a specified speed (10km/s) for a specified amount of time (2100ms) the 2 step is activated while the clutch is in until you reach that speed again. You can also use this to do a faux NLTS by setting the speed to 200+km/s.
As Iowa said disabling ASC may prevent the car from cutting some boost (mode 1) and I'll tell you that putting it in full disable (off off / hold) will not help you. In fact, if you are doing this on a road course and aren't a pro driver it is probably worse. Common mistake - this actually helps you by braking the inside rear tire will the AYC pushes the outside tire more. By turning it off you are making your fancy AWD system that of a USDM evo IX or lower.
