Your best bet is an '06 STi with a single HKS Hi-power
Or get the 335xi... that's a very nice car... like an Evo except i6 and won't handle near as good and won't respond to mods as good either... and won't turn as many heads... and the seats are not as badass... and... should I keep going?

Actually you are wrong on the response to mods. COBB stage 1 for EVO gains less horsepower than COBB stage 1 for 335i, sports seats in 335i are actually very good, and reason why I dont want to get the XI version of 335i is because they didnt make them with sport suspension...thats why im still on the fence

not to mention that I've seen two stage1 tuned 335i's crap out the exact same night at the drag-strip...
You apparently don't want an Evo

I would wait for the 1M instead of the 335i.. Maybe that's a better choice for you.. It's a mix of Evo and BMW.. Meaning it's a stylish European car and a true performance sports car.

Freakin amazing. Best of both worlds, nice tone for cruising and a deep growl at WOT! Pricey though.

335i and Evo X... 2 completely different cars.
Evo X is the show off and the more exciting car to drive.... but the 335i is more discrete, comfortable and the attract the ladies *hint *hint.
Evo X only attracts guys. (personal experience ha ha ha)
You want to thrash all over the place, track or street, then the EVO is for you .....else I'd stick with the 335i as your urban driven vehicle.

I think the reason you are getting these kinds of responses is because in the grand scheme of things, out of all the compromises you have to make to live with an Evo every day, the sound of the exhaust is pretty low on the list. It's just a straight up indicator that you would be happier with the BMW if that would be a deal breaker for you in terms of Evo ownership.

my neighbor next door has a black 2009 335i and I'm always jealous of his exhaust note and he knows it too... but he's also super jelly of how badass my Evo looks... and its still bone stock

Yea if your deciding factors are exhaust note and paint quality you are definitely in the wrong place. Paint isn't that great, but no new car's is. And as far as exhaust tone goes, just go to youtube and type in Evo X exhaust and that will give you an idea of what the car will sound like with an aftermarket exhaust.
