What was nice aobut my old 350Z was that you could set the RPM when you want the light to pop on. Just an old video I pulled up.

For a stock car, no it doesn't make sense. But when you're in a high horsepower car 5000 to 8000 RPM takes no time at all, and you should have your eyes on the track, not on your tach. The shift light and beep is there to assist with that. It's meant for drag racing, and can also help with bracket racing consistency.

Ricers put mufflers on their cars, but that doesn't make mufflers rice.

big Yellow shift light reminds of the street races back in 2000-2002 and the guy in the civic EF with a tach bigger than the wheel

Well, obviously it has benefits.. But for many, and i'd say most, users on here, it doesn't matter. I would much rather Mitsu invest money in something else that makes the car better instead of some stupid light that blinks when you need to shift which wouldn't be useful for most people on here, especially the damn "Eco light".

I mean everybody complains that the X isn't as much of a "race car" and more refined than previous models anyway. Like the OP said, give us a new 6-speed gearbox, some different wheels, some improvement in the qualities of the interior.. Something!

Actually, I view mufflers as rice as well. A catback isn't just a muffler. To me a "ricer" goes to his local Autozone and buys a crappy muffler to get welded on. A catback replaces half of the cars entire exhaust..

Yeah, I saw that DC Sports now supplies Autozone with N1 style mufflers. Funny. I was referring to exhausts in general though, not just a fart can on a 120hp sohc 4 cyl. I know what you mean.

FORD has been using shift lights since the 80's, first time i saw one was in a Ford EXP in 1987, it was a small arrow poiting up on the dash that would light up when the optimum fuel saving time to shift was (usually way too early and sometimes the car would bog and hesitate)....not a new tecnology at all. This will make Mitsubishi appear more environmentally aware etc as they attempt to get the drivers to shift early to save fuel and cut down on emissions. It is a dog and pony show to impress the bleeding heart save the planet types/federal govt until the new hybrid or diesel EVO comes out.

Shift lights are annoying, I can see a beep being useful for the track or drag. but no lights.

Hell my 93 tempo had a shift light, nothing new here.

LoL it was even more funny during the early 90's when the civics owners would put nos, turbos, and all matter of crap and they were still slow.
