New or Used EVO?
#16
I'm in almost the same situation as you, but I would go for new personally. If you're willing to drop $30k for a used, I would hope it's in really good condition.
As for learning how to drive a manual - again I'll be doing the same. For the past 3 weeks I've had a water bottle in my cup holder, and I pretend that's the manual. That along with pretending there's a 3rd pedal. Pathetic I know, but to be honest, driving a manual is just muscle memory, so it's better than nothing. Not only that, but when I drive without pretending to shift, it feels weird, so clearly I'm getting use to it.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

depends on your intentions with the car.
What mods do you have planned for it?
Is it your DD?
If you are going to be pulling the motor/trans to build the drivetrain, I would say go ahead and get a used. But if youre jusst sticking to some minor bolt ons and looking for reliablity, get a new one.

Thanks everyone for all your inputs! I think I'm still going to have to go with the used evo only because $30,000 is my limit. X.x I'm so excited to learn stick and to purchase my own car and pay everything myself haha. High chance I'll be purchasing the used EVO this Friday!!!! I can barely sit still ._." I also did take it to a body shop that's a very close family friend who said the car is in great condition and he did drive it around to.

30k is way too much considering the fact that you can go out the door with a 11 gsr for 32... Yea you wont have any packages on it but its BRAND NEW. The only package I would really consider getting is the full leather seats... for the others you can go aftermarket with ease and cheaper than mitsu stuff.

25k miles @30k is too expensive. I paid 30k for my 2011, but it only had 4k miles on it. Shop around and see what you can get new. In my area, there was only one unit and I didn't feel like driving all over the state. Car ax has a good selection but their prices aren't that great.
