Why does everyone say learning stick on the evo is hard? I learned stick on a stage 3 southbend clutch in my A4... THAT'S hard... the clutch in the evo is a walk in the park

How does the clutch in the X compare to a 350Z for those that have driven both. The Z has a pretty high engagement point.

Oh then no way lol. I would just keep looking then. Go on AutoTrader and search within 200 miles. I'm sure you'll find tons of used EVO's. Just get one that you like for the right price

It's hard to find a decent used one. When i was back in the market for another evo, I tried to find a used one and it's damn near impossible to find one that hasn't been wrecked or molested in some way. Save yourself the headache and get a nice new virgin one.

I personally agree with what many have already said here...I'd never spend that much on a car that already has 25,000 miles on it.

If you don't mind me asking, why is 30 your limit? Are you paying cash?

I don't mean to sound sacrilegious, but for 30 grand, I'd personally be taking myself to Subaru and purchasing a premium WRX.

Sure, it's no EVO, but if offers similar performance, can be modded, and is brand NEW (<--- key word in caps).

I would at least check the exhaust bolts for tampering. Also might want to ask if the car has service records. I have all of mine in a folder, waiting for the next owner. Usually this means the person cared for the car.

Not too many Evo's are left in the state they left the factory. If it has been modified by someone that didn't get it professionaly tuned, or beat on it, you could be sorry. There are very cared for cars out there, but you should try to find out if this car was one of them.

Pros of new: Unmolested, 5 year/60k miles powertrain warranty which on these cars is really important since anything can go wrong.

Cons of new: higher price

Pros of used: Can be had for cheaper, and still look new

Cons of used: Nobody knows its past, Probably been beaten to hell so internals could be getting worn. The good warranty doesnt get tranferred to the 2nd owner, so usually you barley have any warranty left due to the miles it has

For about 2k -/+ more you get brand new evo with that good warranty (not sure if you can even buy an extended warranty on a used evo?)

I still havent purchased my 11' (going this wednessday and will be walking out with one 100% sure) Been eyeing some used ones, south coast mitsu has some real nice ones that look brand new with around 25k mi and up for around $28k/$30k. But in the back of my mind it still scares me about who owned it and how they drove it. Nobody buys these cars with plans NOT to hot rod them. My evo IX, 07 STi, and 08 STi all were daily driven hard whenever I had the chance, even did tons of track days and nobody would ever know.

SUFU thats a good price if it had those miles. Theres an X at SCM with 90k mi and its $23k...Definatly scary with that many miles, and has mods and not old

I think you are jumping way ahead of yourself without really giving it much thought. Just an example, last year I paid $27,900 for my 2008 Evo X GSR with only 3,500 miles on it. The car and engine even smelled brand new. You are about to pay $30k for a used Evo with 25k miles on it. For that Ill sell you my Evo for $30k with 29k miles and actually make a profit. Thats exactly what the seller of that Evo is doing. You can found a newer Evo with less miles than that for cheaper, I am sure of it. In the end it wont matter because you will prob still get the other Evo. Good luck regardless. Welcome to the forum.
