whistle noise after i installed UICP
so like the title says i installed my upper intercooler pipe and for some reason now when i start to get into the higher rpms and spool hard the cars making a whistling noise its like im running a supercharger not a turbo .. any ideas why? buddy of mine has same intake and upper intercooler pipe but an aftermarket bov where im running the stock

If everything is installed correctly and securely, you either have a boost leak or it's the normal intake sound. An open element filter will drastically change the way the car sounds. I got a little confused by the post. You installed upper intercooler piping and an intake, right?

I had a similar issue with my nisei uicp, tightened 10 diff times, uninstalled completely, reinstalled, wrenched the hell out of it a few times and seems like no more leak so far. I'm afraid of tightening them down too hard and damaging the pipes but I guess even the aluminum of the pipe is reasonably strong

When you installed the piping, did you use hairspray to secure the couplers?
If Yes-- did you use TBolt clamps or the supplied hoseclamps?
You may have overtightened the hoseclamps, which broke the hoseclamps.

I have the Nisei one-piece as well. The trick to installing it is to fit the turbo-UICP coupler+clamp onto the UICP first, secure the clamp, and THEN install it.

I used to think that tighter was always better. CBRD posted up something one time saying that overtightening can cause more leaks. They do a leak test before every car goes on the dyno, so I'm sure they've seen a lot.
But... Just as someone else stated, if you used the normal worm clamp hose clamps, you may have broken one. If you tighten them too tight, they start to twist and can actually break or bend the little slots.

Boost leak test your ride, and make sure that you not only fasten your bolts the right way, but make sure that you inserted your piping all the way in.
