Best BoV for Evo X?

Do you have any proof of this? I've seen many many owners run VTA with very little, if any side effects let alone engine damage. I'm also pretty sure you can be tuned for VTA as well. I do understand the MAF issue btw.
In the end I think you're better off running recirculation however.

but if you look at the math/physics of what's happening, it certainly isnt "helping".... like you said, which i agree, it is possible to have a tune with vta... however, if your tune was with a recirc. system, then certainly something may go wrong if you run vta on that tune
math:
let
A= filter air passing thru the maf
B= bypass airfrom bov
C= total air into engine
bypass valve:
C = A + B
Vent thru atm:
C = A - B
like i said... problem may stem from that portion of un metered air if not tuned for such a set up

Evolution Z is right. What happens is that the MAF measures how much air enters the engine. Then with this number measured the ECU calculates the amount of fuel to be injected into the engine to combust with the air to achieve maximum efficiency.
For example, lets say the MAF measures 100 particles of air, then the ECU has the injectors give enough fuel to burn the 100 particles. If you vent to atmosphere the MAF will measure 100 particles but then you lose 40 to the atmosphere, the ECU will still give enough fuel to burn 100 particles but actually 60 get to the engine (100-40). Then you have excess fuel in the engine which doesn't combust and so u will run rich. Then the excess fuel will travel through your exhaust and once it reaches the end of your exhaust pipe, the fuel will meet air and combust at the tip of the exhaust making a loud back fire noise and over time you get that black stained rear bumper.
I personally love the sound of loud blowoff valves. You need to have your car tuned if you want to vent to atmosphere. I had a Greddy RS and it was the worst blow off valve because it leaks. It leaked after 2 months of only 14psi. It leaked with all my friends. I had an HKS that was really good but I didn't like the sound. Find one that doesn't leak under boost.

I have the Hks cold air intake. The maf sensor is at the front, the bov being at the back. How does it measure the air being recirculated? Also, since everyone keeps saying stay stock on the bov. what if your rocking higher boost and you want a honest opinion of what the best bov for the x is. Any help would be appreciated.

I am going to try turbosmart's bov. Ill post what I think about it after install and test it. Reason for.replacement being that factory is leaking wot and is getting worse.
