Sorry but nothing compares to a properly modified Evo X. I have owned AMGs, 996s and 997tt. I love my evo 9, X much more after modifying to my taste. I still kick myself for selling my 500whp STI for my first Porsche.

to the OP, i bought a brand new 2008 Alpine white 135i with the sport package and leather and comfort access. no navi. After 2 years of owning that car I started having issues. Fuel pump died, i had a cam retainer issue, tail light died, after the tail light issue i decided i did not want to deal with further problems after warranty expired.
I put it up on craigslist and ended up selling the car not too long after. My buddy bought a 2008 evo x and Before i ever bought the 135i had my heart set on an sti but after driving his 08 x and the look and feel, I decided to get a 2010 X. I wish I went with the X from day 1, but im glad i got a 2010 as i got bluetooth and other small things that the 08 didnt have. Now the 2011, 2012 you can get leather on the gsr.
Im happy with my decision, the car feels so much better handling wise then the bmw ever did. It feels like a racecar every time, which makes the daily commute so much more fun. except for stop and go traffic.
IF you are going to keep the car long term, the evo x will be easier to work on/have work done, the gsr 5 speed is easier to get worked on vs sst. BMW uses expensive parts, think about getting work done on them, or even working on it yourself you will need some additional tools.

^I've always love the m's for their out of the box factor but i love how much you can put into a evo and what it gives you in the end.

The 135 twin turbo was a disaster. There is a reason bmw extended the warranty to 100kyou and already changed the engine on the new models. Not to mention the fuel pump needs to be replaced every 3-5k. But at least bmw is picking up that tab
