Insurance increase?!?
Anyone with USAA auto insurance get a crazy spike in their premium when the policy was up for renewal? I just received the renewal notice and my premium went from $1400/yr to $2460/yr! I have multi-car, home, personal property, and accounts with them. This is insane.
I called and their rep said the collision rates for the X MR has gone up to almost maximum rates for the state of MD. The rep is supposed to call me back next month to re-review and see if something can be worked out since the renewal is still so far off (Feb). Apparently changes can't be made until i'm in the 40 - 50 day of renewal.
I've done a quick check on other insurance carriers and even if I go above my current coverage, the highest i've been quoted online is $1500/yr. Honestly, this is absurd. Just cause douche bags can't drive this car, the people that are responsible pay out the nose.
Ah...edit...age: 33 and married.

^ Welcome to the 21st Century, where we all have to atone for the stupidity of others. USAA is a pretty good insurance company. I left MetLife because they jacked up my rates without any accidents or tickets. Went with State Farm. My son is 20 and his insurance alone is $2,000 a year! And, I have two other cars, plus home and personal property. I think we can all expect insurance premiums to continue to rise as costs for collision and personal injury are totally ridiculous.

We used to have USAA and they wanted to charge us $230.00 a month for 2 cars full coverage. We now have Geico and pay $112.00 a month for the same thing. I have a 2010 EVO X GSR and she has a new hybrid.
My wife and I are both 25 btw. We both have no tickets or accidents on our records so perhaps that is why our insurance is pretty good.

yeah, i did quotes for other insurance companies and they are much cheaper. I have NO tickets, accidents, violations, etc.
I had geico and they were cheap, but i figured since I have usaa accounts, I should just consolidate everything. this was 2 yrs ago. they also have great customer service. but customer service isn't worth an additional 1K a year! if they can't figure something out, i'm jumping ship to another insurance carrier.

My Allstate policy has increased each 6-month period by over $200 total in the past 2 years (no tickets, accidents, etc)
Called my agent last week to complain, and they couldn't find any reason for the increases (other than it being increases for everyone nationwide).
Anyway, without having to change my coverage or deductible, they somehow dropped my payment back down $100 per year. Same thing happened with one of my dad's policies.. they jacked it up and he complained, so they dropped it back down again. Guess if they raise everyone's rates, and they only have to adjust for the people that ***** about it, they're still coming out ahead.
Bunch of f'ing grifters if you ask me

To the OP, I've never used USAA but have several friends with their coverage who speak praises. This does sound like a case of bad drivers causing the rate to jump. I'm with Liberty Mutual now, check them out if they're available in MD.

I have NJManufacturers $2565.30 is my yearly cost for full coverage with 500 deduct
It went up 400$ for me last year and I called said it was specific to the "turbo evo x" model lancers. nationwide.
supposedly its the best insurance you could get if you have a union hook up or work for a high-end company here in jersey
perk is free towing anywhere
25 Unmarried Clean Record Perfect Credit
Once I hit 28, it should go down by a significant amount

I was just doing some quick look ups for the insurance for myself. I'm 20, will be 21 in March. I'm active Duty Military with just under three years of service. Single, no kids. No tickets, DUI's, etc. Clean record with a credit score of 750-800. State is North Dakota.
USAA - $248 a month
Geico - $292 a month
State Farm - $323 a month
I'll try to get a few more.

i'm in my 30s with 3 cars and home owners accounts with travelers and my insurance on the evo has been steadily going up over the last 4 years.
when the X came out in 2008, rates were considerably lower.
i'm partially responsible for the rise in price since a box truck side swiped me back in 2008 and i got stuck with the bill because he fled.
