I sold my IS300 because even if it only had 14k miles and basically a garage queen, it was depreciating every minute. Besides I liked to drive the Evo more!

I will drive it as I need and want. Im not really concerned about the mileage. Overall though, I dont drive alot of miles. I have two vehicles. My Spyder is an 08 with 28k on it(original owner). I traded in my Outlander Sport and had it almost a year (this was the DD). I put 7k miles on that one. I would think it should have under 100k in 10 years. I plan on driving the car as needed. But it will be regularly maintained with paperwork. Probably have low miles in comparison. And it will be completely stock and non modded. I also dont really like the Ricarro seats so am thinking of buying some other seats so my seats will be in excellent condition also. I didn't buy an EVO in hopes it goes up in value. But I did lean towards the EVO because they hold excellent value in my area and because I believe private party interest will increase throughout the years since you will not be able to buy a new one anymore. There is always someone turning 18 and drooling over these cars. I think you will always find someone wanting to buy it fairly easily if you ever decide to sale in the future.

It is great to see that the Evo is appreciated by the media. If I had the money, I would buy up a pristine XIII, IX and a new X and put them away. Perhaps they will be to collectors what Mopars are right now. Back in the day, Mopars such as the 'Cuda and Challenger as well as Superbee and Road Runner were cheap to buy and nobody paid all that much attention to them. In fact, a Hemi Superbird sat at a local dealership for 3 years before it was sold. Later, the cars appreciated in value and are now worth a princely sum. The Evo is kind of like this in that it is affordable, yet not necessarily appreciated by people who drive American Muscle. This will change in 10 years when the current Evo is out of production and the world drives Hybrids.

Yeah I should have kept my evo 8 but oh well.... Those have gone up in resale value over the past few years. I always keep the stock parts on things I build now a days, I used to sell everything and would kick myself in the *** later on! I will keep my EVO X very stock! hahahaha yeah right!

haha I guess I am one of the fools that can add my name to that list... Other than the rock chips and dents on the doors it looks identical to a new one from the dealer. Most people that ask about the Evo don't believe me that I haven't done anything to it. Not even a sticker on it haha!

Whats this APC sticker the article mentions? Is it some shady tuner or parts company?
I dont agree with a lot of cars on that list.
-The Ford Raptor is just another pickup truck. Nothing special at all.
-The SRT8 is a waste of space.
-Any modern Mercedes is far from a collector car. The old old ones were nice but modern ones are all POS cars. The only thing worth its weight is soley the name.
-I'm confused why Saab is on there. Just because they arent making them anymore? Weak.
-The new Scion/Subaru FR-S/BRZ isnt even out yet. Its all hype. Its going to be a light fun track car like a Miata but for guys. It will never live up to the Supra and become a collector car.
-I never liked VWs and think they are too ugly to be collector cars
I guess I have high standards. A collector car not only needs to be built well and perform but it needs to look good. My mouth doesnt water when I see a pickup truck or a random Swedish car.

Okay, here is my shot at future collectibles from cars from the last 20 yrs (modern more or less) for the year 2040.
2005/2006 STI
EVO IX MR (X's and VIII's to a lesser degree)
E46 M3 (best looking BMW ever, though high volume for this list)
E39 M5 (already getting hard to find)
M roadster ( low volume)
Any NSX (the "real" honda all the civic boys wished they owned when they were young)
Pontiac G8 GXP (modern day Chevelle or GNX, ultra low volume)
I'm on the fence for GTR, Golf R, E90 M3, Ford GT500, 911 RS 4.0 and Boxter Spyder, BMW 1M (super duper low volume), and Audi TT RS & R8

The NSX is interesting because it is already 20 years old. While the depreciation has been OK on them, I still wouldn't call them "collectible" yet. It will be interesting what happens to the value of them in the next 20 years.
Just goes to show, if you are serious about keeping your car a collector's item, you have to be in the for long, long, long haul.

I disagree with this list. While the Evo X is a great/phenomenal car for what it is, I don't see why/how it would be a collectible. Is sales volume the criteria? It's articles like this that feed the koolaid to the Evo drivers. Just IMO.
