maintenance required??
Hey guys, just wanted to ask this noob question. I rarely drive my evo , maybe a total of 800miles every 3- 4months.. maintenance required always pops up after 3 months, should i change the oil then? Or wait till 3months to do it?? Thanks

My rule for every car I have owned has been toservice it at mileage or 3 months which ever comes first. More often then not for me it has always been 3 months.
I havent had my evo for 3 months yet, but it is what I will be sticking with on my evo. My cars never go much past that 3 month mark tho.

I say the advice given is probably good, but I'm really against the idea that oil suddenly goes "bad" in 3 months. Honestly, 3-5k miles of driving, yes. You're heat cycling the fluid and that breaks it down. But really the oil isn't going to fail in 3 months unless you have moisture getting in.
if it were me, I would at least start the car and let it idle every other week or so, but in doing that, I would feel confident with the oil sticking around for 6 months easy.....although I've never had to consider this, as my Evo is 6months old and I have 10k miles on it.

I agree the oil isn't going to go bad, but at the same time it wont what it should as well as fresh oil will. For me it just my way of keeping my warranty valid, and in the past I have seen some bad oil come out of cars that didn't run much. Most recently was my wife's escape, we wont get into the other problems here poor maintenance habits have created.
If you want to go past the 3 months, I would just say keep an eye on it.

I do 5 months or 5k miles. But the reality is I only average about 2k miles in 5 months so its always months before mileage for me. Your car, your choice. I see no problem running a full synthetic for 5k miles personally.
