From what I've read it handles mods well to a certain level of hp. If you want to really increase the hp then you might want the GSR. Overall I believe they are pretty solid transmissions. But if out of warranty and if something happens they can be very pricey. As for pricing that just varies depending on the mileage and your local inventory. Do some research for your area for the pricing.

If you do it the right way, they can handle lots of power and safely. The maintenance is pricey for the SST. Check out my sig. It lists my power.

I gave heard that if you are wanting to add a good amount of power it's best to just stick with the 5 speed.

I guess what he is asking is how much horsepower and torque can the SST tranny handle? I never see myself putting more than an additional 80-100 WHP on the MR when I get it, so is that within the safety threshold for this vehicle? Getting in the low .04s would be good and scary enough for me! lol

80-100 sounds like the limit I heard. I was under the impression that the clutchpacks limit you to like 360-380lb-ft of torque. Most dyno's will show a stock MR around 250ish whp to start. So, yeah 80-100whp would be fine.

by low ".04s" I think you mean low quarter, as in quarter mile. that would be .25 mile in decimal

...then again I think .04 works out to ~60ft times..in which case the MR's launch control makes that happen too

I think the MR will be seeing the torque levels raised as time continues to pass. Shops are already offering service on the trannies and IMO its just a matter of time until someone figures the thing out completely.

I ran stock clutch packs at 360tq for 45000km and then 400 for 5000km and zero issues other then a vented block haha. Tranny was fine tho
