I would buy the tie rod and do an alignment. Nothing more until after the alignment and the car would not come into spec.

I would get a 2nd quote, like a few others said, it seems like they might be trying to have more parts replaces than needed, and their hourly rate is ridiculous, I'd never pay 115/hr. I bet if you call around and find a place or two with good reputations, you can save around $400-500. That's money that can go towards some blizzaks

#1 If you were towed on anything but a flat bed, you'll be wishing you called your insurance company. T case is probably questionable.

#2 Since we drive uni-body cars you might need to get some chassis work done. Make sure sub-frames etc all line up. Might be worth it to get it checked out.

The Evo X has a very strong chassis, but the above is a good point. Maybe the lower LCA survived because the K-member shifted.

But I still doubt that there's anything wrong with the knuckle.

This is also my first winter with my EVO X. I tried to man it out as long as possible with the stock advans, but in the end, I gave in and bought all-season tires.

Trust me, you are not the only one who had an accident in the winter with stock advans. Ive seen a few threads a month or two ago with the same issues.

when I had my EVO IX, I drove through one SMALL snow storm, and even with light breaking I would slid.

Found a good deal for EAGLE GTs for around $600 mounted, and they have done well this winter.

I agree with Iowa, the rate seems high, and it seems like they are nickel and dime'n you. However, that tie-rod end is f***ed up, so you hit harder than you probably think. Remember the Evo is heavy

I, personally, take offense at the idea that to be a man you have to be stupid. But we digress....

Gonna digress a bit further.

It seems people don't understand the true dangers of driving the stock Advans (extreme summer performance) tires on ice, extreme cold or snow. It's not just a danger to your car or yourself, but you're putting others in danger. I almost feel like should put some sort of warning in the goody bag that explains not to drive in the cold on these tires.

Please get some snow or extreme A/S tires if you only drive in snow a few times a year. If not for yourself, do it for others safety. (not trying to be a jerk either, just hope someone else learns from this as well)

You mean the giant sticker that's placed on the driver's side door?

Not trying to be a jerk either. I hope everything turns out for the best and your Evo gets fixed!

Owner's manuals and documentation has a card just for the tires that has a warning symbol and points out that the Advans are a summer only tire.

I'm with you though, MMNA dealers that sell Evos where it snows should make it as stupid as, "we're going to call you in October and upsell you on something winter friendly", and they should sell it as a package wheel/tire and make it easier on owners and a nice upsale for the dealer.

Then again, I just love living in Phoenix. This winter it actually got down to like 28 degrees, with low humidity. ...and yeah, that was about it
