Recommended Evo X Maintenance
I was reading some threads and read a lot of posts about evos needing certain maintenance at certain mileage. I'm not sure if there is already a post about this but I was wondering if someone would share with me what kind of recommended maintenance there is and what to look at when you get to certain mileage points. I'm about to purchase a 2010 evo X and I'd like to do the recommended maintenance and then some to keep her reliable and fun. I do plan to DD the car and taking care of the car is very important to me and being that this is my first evo I figure I'd ask the experts here. I searched for this but was unable to find much information so if someone knows of a link that I must have missed please share it with me.
Also, I saw someone post that it's not good to baby a car like the evo. I always
baby my cars since I usually save all the aggressive driving for when I auto x once or twice a month. Is it really that bad to baby the car? I always heard from my mechanic friends that it's a lot of stress on the motor to keep beating on it as well as a lot of wear and tear on the transmission from all the shifting which is way highway miles are always so much easier on the car then a lot of city and stop and go traffic. Is it really good for the evo to drive it aggressively every day?

I do oil every 3k. transmission/transfer case/diff fluid at 30k. Brake fluid every 2 years is a good rule of thumb but if you auto-x or do hpde's maybe more often is necessary. Brake/tires as needed. Depends on your driving style. I got a year out of my stock advans, a year out of the hankook rs3's that replaced them, and now working on set 3 which are hankook v12's. I got about 20k miles out of my stock front brakes and about 30k out of the rears.

It was good. You can probably get 25k mi out of them depending on your driving habits. I had them on my e92 (328i, not 335i), with occasional parking lot doughnuts and they lasted me almost 28k mi for the rear. Overall great tires, I've seen plenty Porsche guys run them on their 911s, M3 guys, etc. Thumbs up for me. Not to mention they are very quiet and reasonably priced.
I'm trying to be objective... but I can't think if anything to criticize about them. I've never had track experience with them, so cannot comment there.

I've also been running a set of V12's for about 5k.. Treadwear is nice and even so far. Just have to be faithful about rotations. Sidewalls are not quite as firm as the stock Advans, but very good tire for the value.

Manuals are good and all but I don't like to follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule because usually they are wrong which is why I wanted to ask Evo X owners. Audi tells their owners in the manual that their automatic transmission fluid is good for life. Anyone that knows about cars is going to tell you that is complete b/s. I'd rather follow recommended maintenance and look out for issues that fellow enthusiasts have seen or know about as a precautionary measure and a educated owner of the vehicle.
