For those of you with ACD pump failures (merged)

Some clever gearhead here on the forum named EvoooB managed to moved the entire ACD pump and reservoir into the trunk of his Evo 9.
His post was way back in 2011. Technically he would have nearly 2 years worth of data as to how it performed with the pump in the trunk. I've send him an email, hopefully he can share more data with us.
Well here's the start of my setup. This is far from done but you get the idea. The head of the bolts under the pump are 3/4" above the truck floor and the reservoir will be moved to almost above the wheel well with extended hoses. Should have it finished up by the weekend, have to make a couple of brackets to connect the bottom mounting plate and the main side plate then weld everything up. Last but not least have to add some sex appeal with some shaping too on the brackets.

Mine failed just before 50,000 miles and 4 1/2 years. Daily driven during Michigan winters.
Initially the dealer wasn't optimistic about getting it covered. Mitsubishi claims that it's not part of the powertrain, it's an ancillary device to the powertrain. Ridiculous. I lightly prodded my dealer to put up a fight with corporate. In a day or so, they got covered. The service guy said he pulled in a favor from the district rep. Mostly the district rep wanted to know if it was modded and if I was the first owner.

No, I splurged on the Titek Titanium Evo X dual exhaust which took care of a good amount of my funds. Just the Cosworth drop in added and that's it. Will tune this year but with only 13,000kms on the car I wanted to make sure things were ok with it first before I blew my warranty. I spent extra $'s also protecting the car with rust proofing, entire front clearbra, paint protection, RA mud flaps, weathertechs, Clifford security system, etc. The car's 4 years old and looks brand new.

Doing all this, I just got Mitsu to cover my dead pump under my Drivetrain Warranty today so it IS possible. Do not take no for an answer.

This. Go to bat with your service manager, then have him go to bat with the district rep. Call Corporate and yell at them. Threaten to lawyer up, tell them you're filing a claim with the NHSTA.

Also relocating will only fix part of the problem (corrosion), but because the fluid becomes thicker with lower temps this will also eventually cause pump failure...this is where pulling the fuse come winter may help us further for those of us in frigid cold climates.

Before Mitsubishi threw in the towel, the dealership quoted me 1769.61 for the pump, and 525.99 on the labor. You do the math

im in illinois too, as of now there is only 1 local shop who's starting to do rebuilds on pumps, they're a merchant in here too. they are actually rebuilding my pump, that will cost 850+, way better than 2k plus.
i cannot mention the shop name yet since they are not done and dont know if the rebuild would work. so till it isn't finish i cannot refer them yet.

My pump failed couple of weeks ago, after a repainting. Right after I took it out of the paint shop I got the S-AWC Service Required message and later it was confirmed that the AWC pump failed (Error/DTC C161E). If the high temperature of the paint drying oven was the cause (60 degrees Celsius / 140 F) for perhaps accelerating the failure process, or the high difference of temperature when taking the car out of the oven, that I still want to determine and any comments from you would be more than welcomed.
I have an Evo X MR 2009 model. Unfortunately out of the power-train warranty (over ~64K kilometers)
