Testpipe to resonated testpipe ??
Hey guys
After 2 years, the car is getting a bit to loud for my taste and I was considering swapping my ETS testpipe for the AMS resonated testpipe. I don't want to change catbacks since I like mine plus don't have the money at the moment so the resonated test pipe looked like a good option. Any thoughts ? Has anyone done it? How was the difference in sound level? Worth it or not? Fitment issues ?
From AMS's website, resonated test pipe:
Decibel Levels
Idle: 72db
50mph cruise: 92db
6000rpm: 112db
Normal AMS testpipe:
Decibel Levels
Idle: 82db
50mph: 95db
Full Throttle: 6000rpms (website doesnt show a decibel level here)
So it's a good difference at idle but only 3db at 50mph. Yes I know 3db is actually a huge difference in the amount of energy but I'm wondering if anyone has done it and their experiences, worth it or not ?

ALEX I would match up my resonated test pipe to the same manufacture of my exhaust system and down pipe. If you chose to go that route. You will not go wrong with either resonated test pipe. Both companies are top notch in quality, fitment, and performance. IMHO I would not waste the 350.00 plus shipping for either one. I would stay with what you have remove your seats and carpet and DYNOMAT your floorboards, doors and trunk. This will be a huge improvement in the noise level inside your car plus it will improve the quality sound of your stereo system.

I drive an EVO IX but I replaced my AMS high flow cat with an AMS resonated test pipe earlier this year and it quieted things down substantially. I actually was really surprised because even with the resonator I was expecting it to still be a bit more rowdy. It's still not what I would classify as "quiet" but the in cabin noise has been reduced substantially. You can actually have a conversation in my car without using outside voices now.

The resonator helps with some of the raspyness, but it doesn't really quiet down the exhaust system that much in my opinion. It helps, but it's not huge.
Make sure to get a test pipe with a bend though (best way to avoid any type of rattle against the driveshaft)
Thanks,
Michael
