Need Advice on a 2008 MR

I may have an opportunity to pick up a 2008 MR within the end of the week, I just have a few basic questions for all you Evo owners.

1. Are there any major differences between the 2008 Evos and the newer ones?

2. How much should I be willing to spend on a 2008 MR with 70,000 miles?

3. How much should I be asking for my 2009 Ralliart? (55,000 miles)

Thanks in advance for the help!

On a side note, I know the owner of this car is from MN, WI, or IL and is trying to lease a newer Evo MR from a dealer in the Twin Cities. Maybe he uses this site?

IMO I really wouldn't buy an 08 MR, especially with higher miles. The transmission just seems risky in the 08 models. Not sure if it's true but someone told me the 08 transmission specs were slightly off and this caused the 08's to have more transmission issues then the following years. Again, not sure if any of that is true, just what I had heard.

1. The 08's suffered from that chain stretch issue. Mitsu upgraded the part in the newer models. I believe the upgraded the relays as well? I also believe the 08's had a really rich tune when compared to newer models. They also changed a few little things like the door panels, color display, and I believe some of the MR packages (no spoiler, etc).

2. KBB- $30k suggested retail in excellent condition

3. You didnt list the options in your Ralliart but KBB says about $19.7k in excellent condition for retail pricing. I believe subtract about $3-4k if it is a trade-in.

As much as I love buying used 2008s in Wisconsin, I agree with Ken. It would have to be an incredible deal for me to (re-)enter the world of chain-stretch, etc, when the newer Evos don't have these issues.

I wouldn't buy a used evo with more than 50k miles on it. I love my car and all, but I drive it remembering the fact that mitsubishi is down there with bmw in terms of issues and reliability. Personally I would suggest going for 2010+.

Why? Don't the 09s also have the lousy timing chain? To me, the main reason (if not the only reason) to get a recent Evo is to dodge the crappy chain in the early ones.
