Evo X "power band"

A friend and i get into discussions of cars every so often. He is an old vette and muscle car fan. We were discussing when cars build the most power for accelerating. With the Evo, at what speed,RPM and or gear does it create the most acceleration potential? If it's HP, torque curve dependent, what would I be looking at on my curved for the optimal RPM? Would it be the torque curve or HP? Thanks for any help.

The lowest gear (first) when the torque is the highest (something like 3500RPM on a stock car).

(But the thread will continue and possibly become less accurate as time goes by. Let's watch, shall we?)

I figured 1st would be best but we were curious about more roll on like say 30 to 50. It seems like 3500 would bog a little if you just pushed it to the floor.

Gear matters because, odds are, what you care about is the actual acceleration of the car, so wheel-the torque advantage of a lower gear helps (a lot). As to RPM, if you spend a few minutes searching, there are lots of dyno plots from stock Evo Xs. You'll see that the torque peak is around 3500 ... maybe a bit higher, but between 3500 and 4000.
