Is this what it cost to get approx 350hp?

This is my first post here and i'm looking to get some advice. New to the EVO but not modding cars. Just sold my slightly modded Lambo and have done a Porsche GT3RS along with many old muscle cars. I am looking for approx 350hp to the wheels. I'm an old guy so i dont want loud exhaust ect.. I contacted 2 places to get quotes. I will leave the names blank. Here is the list of parts. As you can see one is a company that only sells the parts the other is a shop that sells and installs

140.00 140.00T
ECU DYNO TUNING DSM AND EVOLUTION 8-10 2 250.00 500.00

This was the shop total of apprx 7k

3.5” Evo X Intercooler (We can anodize black to give it that “under the radar” look)
Upper intercooler pipe (I recommend wrinkle black coating for the stealth look)
Lower intercooler pipe (More for aesthetics than performance. Basically completes the kit. )
ETS Intake (again wrinkle black if you want to keep it stealth/OEM looking)
Recirculated Downpipe
ETS Test pipe (we can build them with a high flow catalytic converter or a resonator if you’d like.)
ETS Quiet cat-back exhaust
GrimmSpeed EBC or a Manual Boost Controller
Some Sort of tuning software which we recommend getting a COBB Access Port but FFTEC can advise what they look to tune with.

This should be everything you need to get you to your goal. We have numerous cars making over 350WHP on this setup and should be easily attainable

This was 3100.00

Thoughts?

Vince

tried numerous times to read what you posted. Just couldnt bring myself to finish it. Maybe its bc I am getting old, but damn, that font is tough to read without paragraphs.

But since you had a gt3rs I will give this a shot.

It should not cost you 7k to get 350whp.

Downpipe, exhaust, test pipe (or HFC in NorCal), intake, LICP, (FMIC/UICP are nice but not necessary for 350whp), MBC, fuel pump, tune.

You do not need (or want) accessport, and do not need expense EMS. Have it tuned by a respected tuner, with a mbc, and crank up the boost.

Add misc. goodies on there for a few extra hp and cost (like guages to monitor etc).

edit --- just remembered this was cali, and you will be on 91 gas. slightly harder, not at all unattainable. 7k for 350whp is still on very high end.

gl with the mods and post some pics of evo and other toys

With your option # 2 @ 3100.00 dollars you should meet your goal depending on who tunes your car and what type of dyno they use.

My mod list:
Ets upper intercooler pipe
Grimmspeed 3 port
Magnaflow exhaust
High flow cat
Cobb so cal tuned with accessport
331 hp 330 + tq. On a mustang dyno
Numbers suppose to be about 8% higher on a dynojet.
Cost me about 1800.00 to make that amount of hp.

No intake needed unless you upgrade your turbo. That's what my tuner suggested.

The 3100 option should easily get you the power you want. Its interesting they do not mention putting in bigger injectors and running e85. That alone will easily net you a big increase and along with a few bolt ons, upper and lower ic piping as well as a bigger core, a tune and a boost controller witb a full exhaust. 350 should be fairly easy.
Just out of curiosity what type of lambo? Gallardo? Murcielago? Or more rare like a diablo or countach.

Yea i was going to say 7k is expensive. You can get a cobb stage 3 kit for cheaper.

350

Ya, being an old guy myself it was pretty hard to read. Not sure why it came out so small. The 7k seemed high to me also. This shop was even going to charge me for checking the work that they had done, ie, if there was a leak ect.. seems to me if you charge me to install it you should fix it if its not done right. i just picked up the 2014 Evo X. It will just be a mess around car..running around in the hills ect.

It was an 07 Gallardo. I was just getting tired of getting these exotics ( had a 360 Ferrari, 6.0 diablo, Ford GT and a few others) but just didnt drive them. I have a few old muscle cars now, ie, 70 Boss 302, z28 ect.. and a 88 M3, 86 16v 190 E Cosworth ect.. All fun cars but i wanted to get something i can beat on a bit without the worry of a 10k repair bill.

gotcha.

Vince-- Plan on running 91 or any access to E85? E85 will get you killer number on a safe tune, but if your looking for just something to beat around in then probably not worth the hassle.

If a shop is going to charge you to double check the work they already did, go somewhere else.

I know there a bunch of good shops up in the NW, just ask and the locals will send you in the right direction.

Do all the basic bolt ons, tune, and be done. get you to your numbers, and be right around that 3k mark depending on brand selection.

gl with it and happy modding

I was going to say the same. I didn't understand that either you are bringing them a new car, they are installing the parts and you still need to pay them for pre dyno inspection.

Brilliant!!

350

All this and the shop said i still would need to spend another 4k on better turbos to get to the 350 mark. The total quote was a bit over 10k.

350 is going to be on a generous dyno with the second quote, but it's all you'd really need.

The first quote seems overboard.

Hahaha wow if they think you need better turbos they obviously don't know anything about evos and you should stay away! Did they say turbos? As in plural more then 1?

350

---NOTES TO CUSTOMER---
THE ABOVE PARTS ARE GOOD TO ROUGHLY 290-300WHP ON OUR INHOUSE
MUSTANG DYNO. TO GET TO ROUGHLY 350 WHP IT WOULD REQUIRE AN
AFTERMARKET TURBO WHICH IS LISTED BELOW.
IF THE BELOW TURBO IS ADDED, THE PRE-DYNO INSPECTION AS WELL AS THE
DOWNPIPE INSTALLATION WOULD BE COURTESY INSTALLED.
