Running too rich. O2 sensor problem.

Hi guys,

I got a problem with my Oxygen sensor. I receive a CELL saying it can't see my o2 sensor in bank 1. (ill provide exact code and what it means tonight i don't have it with my right now)

So what i did is just buy a new O2 sensor and replace it.

To draw the picture i have a custom 3" downpipe with a turbo XS test pipe (i got a new bung add to the testpipe to put the o2 sensor).

Everything work smooth and fine whent I install the catback/testpipe/downpipe.
Maybe 6 month after, i receive the cell. So i concluded the O2 sensor was just dead. I change it (the on on the test pipe) but it didn't change a thing. When i delete the CELL after making the change, the cars AF ratio was good and no CELL but as soon as i turn turn the car on on the next day, the CELL came back with the extremly low AF ratio (between 10-13) on complete stop.

Like i said i will provide exact error code later tonigh but if someone got an idea it is more than welcome.

Can my AEM be use by my car as a O2 sensor ?

UPDATE

Here are the codes :
P0134 : O2 Circuit no activity detected (bank 1 sensor 1)
P0171 : System too lean (bank 1)

The O2 on the test pipe is Bank 1, Sensor 2

It sounds like your bank 1, Sensor 1 (the one ECU uses to fine tune fuel ratio) is the one you need to swap...

I was getting the P0134 code when Maryland was seeing its coldest temps since I got the car. I have a stock DP, an ETS test pipe, and Invidia Catback.

I do not have a gauge for A/F ratio, but the car was driving fine, so I pretty much was just clearing and going. Now that it has warmed up, I no longer get the CEL.

I was going to the dealer to have it looked at, but because of my mods they were going to charge me to even diagnose, so I passed on that. I haven't had any problems since, but if you end up looking into this more, keep us posted!

Inspect the wiring first.

If reset and it does not return - you may be okay...

I am investigating on it since i was planning to sell the car but i just can't sell it with cell.
I can confirm it's not a temperature problem since it start by the end of the summer.

I'll keep the thread up everytime i got update.

@ veronica, i did cahnge the o2 on the test pipe with the wire going under the passenger seat en plug into the central console.
The problem is that the mitsubishi tech guy told me the one that plug in the console was the bank 1 sensor 1. So i'm quite confuse, i will have to lift the car and check that out.
