Paint Remaining Interior Trim Pieces

Paint Remaining Interior Trim Pieces
Today I decided to pick up some white spray paint for plastic and take the two fake carbon fiber trim pieces on the dash off and paint them!
Took many more hours than expected and about 6 sand/paint cycles to get them looking perfect. I personally LOVE the look and I want the theme to carry through the car now. I also plan on painting the harness boxes on the stock recaros white.
Does anyone know how to take the same trim pieces off of the doors? I haven't taken the door panel off yet to see but it doesn't appear to just pop off as easy as the dash ones did.
Also, I wrenched on the plastic recaro harness covers and managed to do nothing but make them loose fitting now. I heard you have to really yank on them, but I feel like I'm doing something wrong on these.
Here's a shot of the main piece. Ill post better pictures when its brighter out.

This might help. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=566478
no way. Just pull and snap them out, yeah, one screw will break, but it saves about two hours and the inevitable damage you get with door panels. They will pop back in fine.
PS-welcome to Idaho.

I finished painting the side trim pieces yesterday and installed them in this morning. I really like the look and I am going to paint my pillars black and get the roof upholstered black to complete the black and white theme.
As an FYI to people wanting to paint them, there are some issues with this process.
My process was this.
I went and got some Krylon Fusion no primer, no sanding, plastic spray paint.
Pull the trim pieces off and clean them very well with rubbing alcohol and start spraying them down.
The issue is that I started getting fisheyes and streaking everywhere and the first coat was a total mess causing me to sand them down with 400 grit sand paper so I could try again. I washed them with warm soap and water and with gloves, took a fresh cloth and 99% alcohol and wiped them down again.
Second try I STILL got fisheyes!
It turns out that, from the looks of it, these may be factory hydro dipped to begin with, so whatever that film is they used on the trim pieces was repelling the paint! I tried a little primer and still got the same effect.
On my last attempt I sanded them down again and did a VERY light dusting for the first and second coats and went thicker on the remaining coats. This seems to do the trick for the most part. I only had to sand down 2 spots and they weren't that bad.
As a quick project, it was not very quick at all and ended up being a total pain to finish. But after it was done I can sit back and enjoy the fruits of my labor.

I left out a few details but I tried just about every combo. Alcohol then wash. wash then alcohol. All of it gave the same effect. I was just using it to get the oil off then was it to get it clean.
Thanks for the tip though! I have a few more pieces left to paint so Ill keep that in mind!
