Oil pressure gauge hook up...
#2
I don't know the 4B11 very well, but check the filter housing for 8mm hex plugs. You can run a sensor there, which is CONSIDERABLY less prone to leaking, unlike those cheap sandwich adapters (which also lower your oil filter closer towards the ground).

So, I'm planning on putting some gauges in my track car for next season and had a few questions regarding tapping into the oil system. I'm considering doing the job myself to save some cash, since the local shops around here are asking for like $500-700 to install five gauges.
Two things:
First, I've seen a few reports here on EvoM of oil leaking due to vibration when running sending units connected to the OEM filter adapter:
and running these plugs:
Can anyone comment on this? I was considering maybe running an AMS oil sending line like this which appears to prevent the issue of vibration working your sensor out of the adapter:
UPDATE: This thread has quite a bit of info https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...e-senders.html looks like this works so long as the oil pressure sender is running off of the AMS pressure sending unit (to reduce vibration) and the bolts use Permatex and NOT teflon tape. Teflon tape will leak, can't handle the temperature and is probably not something you want floating around your oil system and gumming up your oil filter anyway.
Second, I was considering running a Prosport oil filter adapter (the oil gauges are both Prosport anyway), but don't really like the idea of my oil filter hanging down any lower than it does already.
I run shorty filters, but this plate pushes the filter down another, what, 1.5"? I'm not comfortable with that, especially since the tracks out here have ruts and **** in them once you get past the runoff.
What are the, 'best practices' for this job?
I don't cut corners, so I'm going to pay the money and do it right. I abuse my IX on the track, but pamper the hell out of it... if that makes any sense.
